We're lucky to have a really good project going, and we need your help with building it. Even just passing the word would be much appreciated!

That's a great video. I'm surprised they slide down those palms so fast - seems like you'd get a burn from that. For consumption, how does the fruit have to be processed or do they just eat it raw?

You get burned really quickly on one of the barked poles we use for the competition, less so with a moist trunk in the shade. That was a problem in the comp, as multiple laps on each pole were called for during each contest. people started using wraps to protect from the heat while descending. The guy near the end of the video has shoes on, I believe.
The fruits need to be soaked in warm water, which causes the mesocarp to separate from the seed as the fruits are beaten with a large wooden pestle. The hard, eggshell-thin exocarp fragments sink to the bottom, and a tasty, rich beverage is poured off.
