This one is for Jeff, one of the greatest inspirations for my generation. It put Zion squarely on the climbing map, as the name implies.

"It's more like a lover's ass than cold stone, and a gentle caress, not a forceful tug, gets us where we want to go."
All Jeff's athletic and teaching skills and he is an exquisite writer to boot! Is that the essence of sandstone climbing or what!?!

Very simply put; this article changed everything for me.
Last month Jeff had an epic trying to drive a cheap wheelchair van that he bought back home across the Mohave in 110 degree heat and breaking down. (it was eventually returned, he flew home)
I called up some of his friends and passed the hat, and have gotten $23.5K in pledges, but he has only received $4k so far and at this point it is an essential need.
Any significant contributions (or even ideas) are welcome.
Don't send them to me, go right to him.

Thanks for caring enough to help out, Ron. For all that Jeff has given to the greater climbing community, a bit of help is entirely appropriate! I hope those pledges are honored soon.

I wonder who has the guidebook from the visitor center that used to be the only source of route information BITD?

The guidebook/beta folder still exists. Go to the backcountry desk in the park and ask to see it. YOu can copy anything you want. The shop in sprindale zion rock and mountain guides has most everything the park binder has plus some more recent additions as well that you wont find anywhere else.

SteveW,
the taco has this thing where you can actually send a message via email to a person rather than just post up a question to a thread that the person may or may not revisit,...
Likewise you could contact jello directly using the same method.
In fact now I'm going to use it to send you his address WITHOUT TAKING THE LIBERTY OF POSTING IT HERE!

Jeff's career has been remarkable in many ways; spanning Continents, generations and styles. More than anyone he has been the Renaissance Man of American climbing.
