Ed, those are really beautiful shots. I have no idea how each subject feels about their own "close-ups," but speaking as one who is the subject of none of them--you really have a fantastic eye for lighting and character. A great looking bunch of folks, whose "experience and character lines" really enhance the portraits. Quit your day job, hop in your Vanagon, and bring us some more!

I usually do a fast scan at 1000 dpi to see if the image is worth more work.
for the Web 400x600 is sufficient (that's what those are), in fact, there are lots of images that look fine in that resolution that just don't blow up...
when I print, I go to 4000 dpi, and usually 8 to 16 passes, then I can usually print to 12"x18"
anything larger and I go to my photofinisher who will scan at 8000 dpi (if I push him) where some photos blow up to 24"x36" (at 300 dpi on the print)

Jaybro's right, not "natural light" but "available light"
Mike was shot in his front room at 6am (?) as he was going out the door to a date in Maple Canyon with his project... which he did, indeed, send... under incandescent (I think? Mike?) light.
as I said before, inspirational!

these portraits, and others can be viewed at:

I should retire and get to work again... B&W film has some interesting features that make the work of producing them quite rewarding.
