It is freaking me out that a hell of a lot of people who I "grew up" with are going away - celebrities, climbing idols, real life friends - all people who marked times in my life when I was young and the world was ahead of me and no one died or even thought about it.
Now I swear I spot that black robed fuker stalking me from afar.
Somedays I can't decide whether to start running again or just lock the door and hide?

I don't know ....to me "bummed" is like losing your weed, green or lucy lettuce or whatevah. Losing a friend and climbing Dude like Bachar is stomach wrenching sick.

but say, dear one... take each day at a time, and make sure in your heart that you have used that day, with no regrets to haunt you... and make sure that you have smiled at yourself in the mirror, for day well done...
and make sure that you have shared that smile or a handshake...
or---your pictures, done with skill, to makes folks hearts here, reflect on those buddies, as well, or on a climb of their past, well done...
and then, keep your heart at peace with the MAKER of all things, and you will do well...
yes, we all do die some day... and seem to die to soon... but you know, we are like a garden of flowers or trees, and we all LEAVE SEED, and we all produce fruit, and it is all different, coming at different times, after different cultivation... thus, our "plant" dies accordingly, at different times, as well...
god bless to you this night, blitz.... hang in there, and keep trying to flourish... and make sure to find a smile for yourself, too.... :)

man thanks for posting some great photos and great memories.. it is a very sad day for so many of us who were lucky enough to share the rope or go bouldering with JB.
his passing has crushed me more than i expected and it makes me realize how short life is..
i am fortunate to live the life that climbing brings and to share the adventures i have over the years with so many great people is worth more than all the riches in the world..

P.S. I love getting in arguments with other young (most likely gym)climbers about how a route like the Dike Route should have more bolts. What? They are perfectly spaced!! Right??

Strange, but Bachar's death has inspired me to get back into climbing more. I haven't done diddly in a year, but soon I'll be headed to the East Side with my trusty wife and faithful hound (not the same being!). I'm gettin' a new rope, the wife gets a new harness--may look into some shoes, too. Damn it all to hell. Let's get on the rocks.

Blitzo bump
thanks to Nita for bringing this thread back to our attention. I don't know Blitzo but have been following his story here on ST as his life winds down. From all the outpouring of affection that he has received, it's obvious he is a great guy. Sorry I never got to know him. Everyone has referred to his great photography and I didn't know anything about that, until now. I'd encourage anyone who didn't know Blitzo (ST newcomers like myself) to read this thread and discover a little bit about him (read all the posts) and see those great photos that everyone is talking about.

Nita THANK YOU so much for resurrecting this thread. I didn't even remember it. He had so many good photography threads. This one has so many remarkable shots...he was such a gifted photographer. He made it look effortless.
But the text in it now rings pretty strong. Especially for locker and I on the first page. Wow. Spooky. Four years ago. Crap, look at Anastasia's post before this got resurrected.
And neebee's post before that in 2011 wishing him a happy spring and hoped he wasn't bummed anymore. Even back then she was looking after our friend and sending loving wishes. Especially amazing with her love quilt giving him everyone's love through the end.
Every time I feel like I might start bawling I always have been able to reset my mind and think about all the great times Billy and I had. He had such an amazing life and amazing stories. I end up puling myself out of it and smile when I think of him. I'll miss him for the rest of my life but the time I got to spend with him when he was here was worth it's weight in gold. I'm so grateful for that.
And grateful for Billy.

i have been thinking of you every day in beautiful places. feel the love as you transition to wherever it is we go.
if the next world is just a compilation of all the beauty and friendship uou shared in this one it will be an amazing place.
