Guys, help me with this picture please.

Who's in this picture?
Who took the shot?
What year do you suspect it was taken?
How much 'cid does it take to look like this?

Thanks for your help!!!

I love this picture for it shows a very special moment in their lives...
It was a time when climbing for them was more about playing on the rock with their friends than impressing the climbing world, getting sponsorships, arguing over ethics, etc. This picture shows them when they were really happy without the problems of the world on top of them. Metaphorically, it is the time before Eve ate the apple and got everyone kicked out of Eden.

our trick was to buy thick surplus coveralls before we went on the bindlestiff. it was nice to jump off the train at your destination, take the filthy coveralls off, wash your face, and you were good to go. one time we were hopping freights from seattle to the tetons and we had one coverall that had "frank" monogrammed on it, and another had "todd." we modified them so they read "rank" and "odd".

the hobos in the yards got a huge kick out of that.

WBraun- there HAS to be more classic shots from this time period is your archives!?!

Maybe one with the Warbler?

You know, pictures Meyers wouldn't have dared to put in the seminal "Yosemite Climber", a masterpiece on it's own.

The one (although there's many) picture from "YC" is my favorite.

I got to climb with Mr. Myers waaaaaay back in about
1975? (oh, that single brain cell is being stretched). . .

He used to live in this gorgeous brownstone that even had
gargoyles on it, which turns out just around the block
from where I ended up buying a house. Unfortunately, he'd
moved out by then. . .

I've seen a picture of Warbler from the time period.

Bridwell, Meyers, Graham, Long, The Warbler and the usual suspects.

They're squaring off to have some sort of "T-shirt strangulation party", Long is "mugging it up" as usual.

The Warbler looks about 6'13", surf/skater blond, like the drummer in some mythic band.
One tendon long, and capable of spanning unbelievable reaches both on and off the stone.
A stone master both inside and out.

What was up with that "death match" anyways? stories?

if we want to assume there is a big conspiracy thing going here (anastasia, Kevin, JB, Jello and Werner are all in on it) and these guys are spoofing us, another name to think about is Jello. I've never seen him without a beard or mustache and (sorry Jeff) he might be 5 years older than those other guys (and doesn't quite look older than them in the photo) but he had opportunity (spent lots of time in Eldo back then) motive (liked to climb at the edge of what was possible like the other three) and long blond hair.

Say, it just ocurred to me that a Picture post of The Warbler and JB together in that year would kill or confirm conspiracy theory.

Then someone could pull the sheets up and make the bed. hehe.

(Maybe you'd better throw a pic of Jello in also, since he was a blond too.)

People don't change that much.
Now look at his hands, his shoulders. Plus look at the love for loud colors. Now who would love to wear FBI glasses with a funky head band?
Plus, the final kicker is who wouldn't mind wearing a pair of shorts with the hem hanging off? Some of us would get immediately annoyed and cut that thing off.
(I would.)

the height argument doesn't work, because we can't see their feet (maybe John/Kevin/Jeff is standing on a high spot or a rock).

Wasn't it Tarbuster who carried out a complete forensic evaluation of some of the J-tree photos to come to some iron-clad, irrefutable important conclusion (though I've forgotten the details). Roy - you out there?
