Give El Papagayo a try in Meyers. Good burritos etc.. beer as well.
Also, for Thai, try 'Thai One On' on lower Kingsbury.
Blue Dog Pizza is fantastic. I wish the location were better. I have not tried the Blue Dog Pizza at the bowling alley yet.
Getaway Cafe in Meyers is also great if you feel like splurging.

El Papagayo is good but not so much authentico. Tacos Jalisco (I think it's called) is pretty darn good. It's Blue Dog @ the bowling alley and Bob Dog in Meyers. I think the owners used to be partners and went their seperate ways. Both offer great pizza though.

Good call on Freshies. Especially in the summer once their deck opens up. am getting a tour at Woodfords from Dan so not sure i am at liberty to invite more folks.
Here is more info on South Lake Tahoe/ El dorado Farmers markets that somebody emailed me (i think the person doesnt want their name posted)
if you're heading up hwy 50, you're basically hitting the jackpot because there is so much ag in el dorado county and there are lots of stops pretty much right off the highway, in apple hill.
the most simple instruction for people heading up highway 50 is to go to apple hill on their way up the hill - exit schnell school road in pville, turn left, and then turn right on carson road. you'll hit lots of farmstands and you can take that road up to camino and jump on the highway again there by the gas station / pizza place, since carson road runs paralell to the highway. how perfect is that? there are also several wineries and a couple of breweries up there. everything is very clearly labeled because it's a destination spot for agricultural tourism. you can also, when you get to the junction at high hill ranch, turn left on north canyon road and go to some of the places out there.
you can also stop in at the chamber of commerce on main street in placerville, and get a map of apple hill, and more info on ALL the county farms. the chamber commerce is about a quarter of a mile down from the cozmic cafe.
in placerville, on saturday mornings in spring thru sept there's a farmer's market across from the local organic cafe - the cozmic cafe (it's a pretty fun place to hang - they have alpenglow coffee - the tibetan monks are there right now - they did a mandala) the cozmic cafe is a great place to catch a bite if you missed the market and lunch, and there's always super cool stuff happening there and lots of fun interesting people who love to share info w/eachother about health and wellness hang out there. yoga classes and all sorts of fun stuff go on all the time, too, and free wireless.
in south lake tahoe there is also a weekly farmer's market.
links:
http://www.applehill.com/site/growers.html
http://www.edc-cfma.org/
btw i think that one of your slt guides mentioned that there's a safeway off placerville drive - it's a BigLots now - but if they drive down the road a bit, there's a raleys. and going down a bit further there's an excellent health food store, Noah's ark - and you can shop there, then turn left and just follow the road back onto the highway. watch out for the chp because they're hiding out a lot trying to catch speeders thru the construction zones, particularly further down the hill by the casino - the speed limit thru there is 55. there is a new safeway but the intersection is a major hassle and they are more expensive and their natural foods section sucks!!! it's off missouri flat road, which is the exit before pville drive.
the grocery outlet up in the main part of placerville also usually has organic stuff as well - exit at schnell school, turn right, and then left on broadway and you're there. i just got a bunch of organic energy bars there. their freshness date is next month so i put them in the freezer.
for people headed to cosumnes gorge (i don't know why you'd want to go in summer except for maybe the swimming hole but watch out for snakes) - tomary's tomoatoes on pleasant valley road has local produce as well as all sorts of gorgeous rare tomatoes... the heirlooms are my favorite. they are also very pretty

Chris, no worries dude! I was actually just trying to find a way to get info on Woodfords Cyn myself! In addition, I've found the Safeway at Sly Park to be easy, in and out. Of course, I'm usually going down the hill. If you check out any wine in Camino, my friends family, last name Chisano, no idea of the wineries name, make some good stuff! Check it out if you get a chance.
Edited to say that yes, this guy will be at D Sky on St Pattys day.

Good mexican in SLT = that place right by Sprouts (down the road just a bit towards the Y, by the mountain book store - I'm spacing the name of both the bookstore and the restuarant)
It's authentic and good pitchers of marg's
Cheap, too

How about El Papagayo for mex/american at the last minute before heading out of town?
Either that or a pint of booze at Roadrunner.

Scooza on Ski Run, if they are still there. Great Italian food, better than Tep's.
Hoss Hoggs for pork.
Colombo's for burgers if they are still around.

Thanks for the nod to our coffee. I manage Wide Awake and want to let you folks know that dirtbags are welcome here. Soon we'll have some guidebooks on the shelf (hint, hint Chris. want to donate one?) and I'm always happy to sit down and talk shop or climbing with anyone. Ask for Ryan if you stop by. And we have free wireless, breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and a beer/wine license on the way.
And if anyone else get's the opportunity to take the Woodfords tour with Dan, do it. It's a good one.

By far the best pizza in South Lake is Lake Tahoe Pizza Company. It is on 50 before you get to the Y. Been going there for over 20 years and it is the best. Amazing crust, quality ingredients and opens at 4pm, so no lunch.
Also mentioned was Placerville...right across the street from the Cosmic Cafe is the best breakfast joint anywhere...Sweetie Pies. Wins best breakfast, desserts, etc. every year for over 17 years. Everything, and I mean, everything, is homemade...cinnamon rolls, pies, all kinds of breads. Gotta admit it's my mom's place but try it it will not disappoint. Portions are very large, I recommend going with a few friends and ordering an omelette (turkey and asparagus with hollandaise sauce or veggie are great), french toast, pancakes, biscuits and gravy and then all sharing it! They also serve lunch which is excellent also...quiche, real turkey and cranberry sauce on homemade whole wheat bread...can't go wrong! Many a dirtbags frequent there. Had some guys in years ago that had come back from desolation and they couldn't quit "mmmmming" through their whole meal! Oh yeah, and named one of top five breakfast places in Sunset Magazine!
Also in P-ville, if you want a great teriyaki bowl go to Teriyaki Junction on Broadway (McDonalds, Starbucks, Rite Aid shopping center). They make their own teriyaki sauce chocked full of veggies and slow cooked for 9 hours.
Casa Ramos in pville is much better than Tortilla Flats...and awesome margaritas!
If anyone wants more Tahoe/50 corridor recommendations, just email me...happy to help!

Another Sushi place to add to the list: Naked Fish Sushi - Extensive sake selection, some fun menu items like the tempura cheesecake. Somewhat pricey but we went for Sushi Happy Hours (Mon-Thu. 5-6:30) - rolls just $3!

There was a Taco place in SLT, near state line, next to a 7-11. I don't know the name (or if it is there). Really good tacos, simple but good. Never tried anything else. Is Sprouts still there? What is in the original AlpenSierra coffeehouse? I haven't been up there in 5 years.

All locals know there area lot of marginal restaurants in SLT, but also some absolutely incredible ones.
Namely:
Orchids Thai - has to be one of the best thai places in california, i've had a ton and very few are on the same level with this place...can't seem to go a week without it.
Naked Fish Sushi - happy hour is amazing 5:00 - 6:30 mon-thurs , this is the ONLY place in town with good, city quality fish.
Los Mexicanos Taqueria - little known place on herbert ave, near ski run...has great everything, don't go to taqueria jalisco unless you enjoy burnt bad, americanized food and a stomach ache.
Burger Lounge - Incredible burgers and fries, soooo good.
Divided Sky - probably the only bar in town if you are into good beer (they have pliny the elder now!!) , and the sandwiches/salads are incredible...Brian's place kills it!
Of course, morning coffee @ Alpen sierra/Alpina cafe is a must.
