It seems to me that some photo's look better in Black and White then they do in color.
It gives them a bit of a historical feel.
So, heres a thread for Black and Whites
These first three can,t hold up against Ansel, or Bradford Washington,, but here they are.
Lets see your Black and Whites.

JH, thank you for sharing...I agree, B & W can make photos more intense. Color is a distraction sometimes, like wrapping paper. B & W gets down to shape and texture, the substance, the immediacy of defining lines. Great photos, keep them coming!

Wow…Nice Black n Whites!
Here’s a couple from BITD.
Tenaya Canyon Ice Puddle 1977
Kurt Reider and Glacier 1976
I recently scanned this from an original print and it was so fine that when I magnified it, Kurt’s shoelaces were even crisp. It was shot with my favorite B&W film, ASA 25, with one of my favorite cameras, Nikon Nikkormat with a mirror lock-out feature for super fine, no vibration photos. Some of you “East Siders” might even be able to figure where this was taken.
Sea Palm Northern CA 1975
Keep ‘em coming!

Cool shots, guys!
Bradford Washburn was mentioned here a few times... You think his stuff is amazing when you see it online? F*#king incredible in person!!! If you get a chance to visit a gallery showcasing his work, don't pass it up!
I have to say that I'm the proud owner of a portfolio containing a number of his prints. I was amazed at the price I got them for. Less than $500. Maybe that's because the day he died I went on the hunt. I'd think they are worth a ton more now, but maybe not. Regardless, they are priceless in their current location!

Here's one I'm fond of. I made it in college, and it was inspired by a similar shot by John Sexton, who I greatly admired. I shot it at the very end of a roll of film on a backpacking trip. Made this exposure then realized there was a lens flare, as the sun was hitting the front element. So I made another exposure and ran out of film. The last shot ended up being half a frame - ruined. I couldn't make a good print until a couple years ago when I drum scanned the first frame and retouched the flares.
This one was in the Patagonian desert

Are there any rules here?
Are we just computerconverting our digital shots or are these photos supposed to be from genuine BW-films?
Well, me think analog is the topic here:
Freyr, Belgium, 1985. Sally climbing (Jan up thread knows her...)
Stanage, Left Unconquerble, 1984
Not rock, but rock stars:
Alice Cooper 1974

Hey Redwood,
The infrared film:
A while back (15 years) I rented a movie, shot entirely with that type of film. Can't quite recall, but quite something visually, it was a stylized piece about Cuba, maybe by Scorsese or Coppola (couldn't find it in their filmography), the effect is stunning, especially with whites and shadows.

This is my first attempt at an image post.
This is a picture I took with my friend David's camera while he and my brother Peyton were doing the first pitch of the Pacific Ocean Wall on El Cap during summer 2005. They are in the lower 1/3 of the photo directly in the midline. You can see another party high up on the PO, also directly in the midline of the photo; they appear as a little black dot. They were going in and out of the clouds all day long.
This is my good buddy David leading pitch 9 on the Prow. Summer 2005.
This is me at one of the early anchors on the Prow. We had spent a long night in the rain in our ledge, and I was trying to dry my shoes and socks while David was on lead. Summer 2005. Photo by David Moses.

A couple more great black and white memories.
This is one of the early belays on the Prow. My partner, David, and I had been drenched the night before in a freak storm and I was trying to dry out my shoes. Taken in Summer of 2005.
This picture was taken by my good friend Jeff. My brother, Jeff, and I did the Shield this past summer (2007). This is a shot of me contemplating the crux move on the Shield Roof, which is the entrance to the headwall. I remember this move like I just did it two minutes ago. It required hooking in a very shallow, very slopy sawed angle hole (we didn't have any sawed angles to place in it). From this I had to extend laterally as long as I possibly could, and then a bit further, to reach an offset nut placement. All the while the wind was HOWLING and making the hook very unhappy. I got the offset placed (a #7 I think, the purple one) and just as I was about to clip it, the hook shifted majorly! She was on her way out in seconds. I clipped and got a good hand grip on the nut. That took just enough weight off to make the hook hold, and I managed to get on the nut. From there it was relatively cruiser to the anchor.
Notice the incredible amount of smoke in the valley. Many of you will remember the length controlled burn the park service did last summer, the last week of June. We really thought we were gonna get smoked off the wall, but luckily the winds were in our favor and we were spared.
