PC's thread searching for his child's name prompted the question about what taunting names we were called in school. I suspect not much can beat Melissa Pissa, but figured it was worth a try to see what else was out there... post up!
I was called repeatedly Collie Rintintin by a boy named John Furbacher. I promptly named him Johnny Furrybutt.
Edited to add: While that was my taunting name, the name I was known by was Pete.

Guys started calling me Boone. I asked if that was like Daniel. They said No. Like Bab.

I didn't protest when a group of girls started calling me F*#kMe, a take off on my last name.
Edit: oops I didn't register the taunting part when I read the first post. Hmm, I guess Joe Bike was taunting but it didn't bother me. Same with FukMe

I think most of the kids in school had a hard time rhyming with Todd.
Most of the guys called me,...now here's a shocker...."Shack"!

5th grade: "Erosion" because I rarely sat up straight in my chair, kind of like I was eroding.
High School" "Okie" even though I'd never been anywhere near Oklahoma. Don't ask me why.

Ouch, But to a climber that's almost a compliment right? ;)
Crimpie, Pete? How'd that one come about?
Mine was Cosmic. There were three of us geek musicians in school and we called each other cosmic. Not sure why. Perhaps for our imagined interstellar adlib journeys ;)

I never had any negative names attached to mine. But....here are some of the ones I remember for others:
Smelly Shelley(apparently, the guys had given her this one, in about 9th grade)
Kelly Stinkley(her last name rhymed, she didn't stink)
Oney Baloney(my brother, Loren, who's "known-by name" was Oney)
Most of my siblings were called Marco Polo at some point in their school daze(our last name is like one of those names)
Chris Blasnigger(last name was Blasnig; it was the 60-70's in nowheresville, WI, where the only colored(other than white) kid in town was a mulatto at one of the public schools)
Guinea Pig, for my oldest sister, Ginny, who was a bitch on wheels because she was always stuck babysitting 7 siblings(alll born one right after the other)
Alvin the Chipmunk, for my brother Al, who was a runt of the litter as a kid

"Oleo", or "runt".
But then I became part of a star 3 man offense in soccer, and won a notorious battle for second place in a swim match against the Harlem Boys Club.
Having proved myself on the field it then became an issue of hair length.
Enter (I suppose its OK to laugh at this now) "hairy hippy"
Hey, you should have seen me.
I used to have women come up to me and say, "I wish I had hair like yours."
Really. I'm not lying. lol

PC: Where Pete came from continues to be a mystery. I was called Pete from the moment I hatched. Every now and then, someone in the family calls me Pete. That usually means they need a really big favor!

Sue just gave me the Melissa-Pissa name here.
Everyone I know from my youth called me Danielle or varients of Danielle. I only became Melissa when I turned into a name on a roster in college and didn't try to stop it. Eventually most people just knew me as Melissa, so I went with it. My family still calls me Danielle.
So...the Danielle names were:
Dan-smell.
And the one I hated most:
Nelly.
The boys that called me Nelly swear (they're still friends) that they weren't trying to be mean...that they just thought it was a nickname for Danielle. At the time Little House on the Prarie was big, and the only Nelly I'd heard of the Nelly Olson, the Little House villainess. I thought it was a huge insult.
I never liked Dan either. It was a little too butch.
My best friend's last name was Gross. Man, did she get tortured! I remember one St. Patty's day, we all got shamrock shaped cut outs w/ our name rendered w/ O' or Mc' in front of it. Hers was O'Gross. Funny now...but pure torture at 9.

The mean ones I don't care to revisit, (and there were plenty because I was the shrimp) but one of my favorite teachers (gym) called me "Mighty Mouse" (this was jr. high) because I was this little, scrawny thing but I was a gymnast and could out pull-up and out sit-up even the boys.

I have known two gals called BJ by their family; I could never understand why they would stick a daughter with that.
I had a friend named Polly Penelope Puffpafh . She asked her parents why and her mom said well dear you’ll marry and have a new last name.
I was Richie till thirteen
In San Diego there was a Robin Bird and Buster Hyman. Come on you think the folks missed that or did they think they were just cute.

In the 5th and 6th grade I lived in the central valley and was assured of at least several times a day being called hopalong, crip, cripple, etc. The result of having contracted paralytic polio at nine months and wearing a metal leg brace on my right leg.

Melissa, my most profound apologies.
Like Crusher the really awful ones I'm not telling. I had large prominent teeth so "bugs" and "fang" were popular nicknames for me. I was a late developer so the "boy named Sue" also circulated for a while.
In the early years most of the torment came from my siblings who coined the rather obvious Sue-poo. My sister, Patricia was always called Trish, (and later known in highschool as "Trish the Dish" -which she did absolutely nothing to discourage) so there wasn't much to rhyme with. Alas If only I had though of Fat Pat, I would have had something.

Does Jimmy Biggerstaff have a "bigger staff?" How about The Reverend Dick Shook? Patty Furbush anyone?

people ALWAYS shorten and / or mispronounce my name... and it drives me totally f*cken nuts!!!
how hard is it to hear someone tell you their name and call them what they say you can call them instead of some nickname you decided on? people in modern society do not listen well.

All my taunting came from my dear younger brothers. :-)
All these need to be pronounced with kind of a rapid grunting intonation:
"Erk!" (my first name is Eric)
"Erica, Erica, Miss America!"
and my personal fave:
"Fathead!"
Funny the oldest of my two younger brothers always had the biggest head in the family. Must have been some kind of projection.
Gotta love your bro's.

One of my other nicknames was Uncle. Not sure why.

No taunting names growing up--I was a tomboy and all the guys were pretty nice to me...or else (ha-ha!)

In highschool and college I was "Queenie"...from an odd collection of rhinestone tiaras I somehow managed to acquire.

Of course, who needs a nickname when your name is Matt Burns and you're the captain of the wrestling team (wait for it....). You just can't make this sh*t up.

I wasn't kidding about Harry Ball or Harry Guy.
At a hospital where I worked the three obstetricians (and I could not make this up if I tried) were Dr Quick, Dr. Heurry and Dr. Kum.
A friend of mines brother wanted to name his first child "Astakis" (say it out loud-short "a") and even went as far as putting it on the birth certificate but the grandparents (both sets) put their collective feet down.
and then there are place names...my brother in law (and I am NOT making this up) grew up in South Dildo, Newfoundland.

Well BVB, maybe it was that stylish way you had of wearing a plastic eyeball strung on a piece of string around your neck during 5th grade that got "crazy" rolling as a nickname. Your mom sure would go ballistic when someone called up and asked for Crazy, though you always seemed perversely proud of the moniker.
Me, I got things like Albino, Rabbit, and Willard, mostly for being very very blond and sort of pink.
