Hey Wall eye-
Must have been around '84. Fish and I just topped out on Iron Hawk, Coz and Cory on Zodiac, I think(?). Fun time.

I never gave rope-braiding much thought until I saw a bit about how it's done, interesting machines.
Post more photos sometime from the inside of the rope factory? Or the rig where you break them?

No pics of test machines at the moment. I'd like to get a high speed camera sometime to capture ropes at the moment of break.
Here's the results of a few hours of work on Largo's anchor book.
Here's some dudes demonstrating how not to locate a belay to avoid falling ice. One of the belayers took a direct hit moments after the photo. Not too pretty.

Broken biners, an unnerving sight. I didn't know you were busting those up too for the anchors book. Or were they just collateral damage?

Yes, collateral damage. A couple of them got hit by the mass and sheared in half (not in the photo). An expensive load cell also bit the dust.

Deuce,
When is that first photo of Mike from? Not sure who the spotter in the foreground is but the guy in the hat spotting is my husband (before I knew him)!
Cool shot.

crusher, that's Coz in the foreground of the first foto (Scott Cosgrove). I think that was a trip not too long ago, old dad timewise (sometime late 90's early 00's??).

Aha.
I think at the latest Spring '99... Bill's got his hat on so I can't see how grey (or not) he was then. We met Fall of '99. Boy, Mike hasn't changed much, huh?! Got any more?

If Coz spent some (more?) time in the integratron, maybe he wouldn't need that blue rinse?
OT, John, do you have the a postable version of that spine tingling tale of Danno getting ripped off and then recovering his stuff in Oakland?

Regarding the piton, that was an old coveted piton, not sure who made it, recovered in Yosemite. The foto was taken, I think, at Steve G.'s house, while he was recovering from a broken ankle. Though my memory is about as good as the photo on this one.
Jaybo, don't have the story anymore, that one got me in a lot of trouble when I posted that on rec.climbing with my employers at the time. I didn't have a clue what Dano was really up to in Oakland that night when I published the story (I just thought it was another nutty adventure, like the time he got stuck all night under the Golden Gate Bridge because it became a crime scene--not related to his presence--while he was under there checking out rope swing possibilities). Joe Erlich was the one who told me what was probably really happening in Oakland that night, I was surprised by my own naievity.

Yow, Deuce4, interesting comments, I may be a babe in the same woods, Naivete-wise. I just thought it was a riveting tale, well told. (I may have it on a hardrive, somewhere)
I did wonder if it might not be a less than favorite of your previous employer. But thanks for the versimilitude that crept through me when I read it!
