Yes of course, the "Beer Connoiseurs of Supertopo" -this of course coorlates with the Friday Night Drunks, and obviously room for other alcohol categories ;-)

Suggestion - Include an image for the Lists. Even a Headline Illustration(JPEG with the Title).
I was going to Pin the "Photographers Of" to one of my Pinterest boards related to climbing, and can, because some have posted images in the thread, but.... obviously not all will have such images, and also since it is a collection of links, would be nice to focus on the whole. The image is also good for Facebook links, as posts with image get better click-through.

The political pundits of Supertopo....long list. LOL (I joke make)
Chris, it's lightly disturbing to see amazing, interesting or historically incredible posts by folks like Rgold, Jan or Tom Higgins just get buried under the mundane daily minutia which we all find interesting. That Frank Sacherer thread, for instance...wow.
I would think that a rating system, whereby all of us wankers could star or rate a post or a thread, and that a new person could log on 2 years later: hit "show me the real amazing stuff", and see that fantasic John Bachaer or Ken Yeager story instead of stupidity and bickering over who the recent asswipe politician of the day would make this a very very special place. (ie, more special than it is)

Another +1 for couchmaster.
Simple button on each thread where you can give it a star or thumbs up or whatever.
Then have a simple drop down above the forum list where we can choose to organize all threads by vote count for a given time frame: most highly voted today, this week, this month, this year, all time.
Easy way for us who visit only once in a while to get at climbing content and skip past the other stuff.

"Be afraid of what you wish for"
Why? It's the internet, silly--nobody dies, their inane comments live forever, but are buried all the same. A retrieval system is not to be feared. Or thought useless or irrelevant or a waste of time as a point of speculation. I'm just saying, we are people of ST, not machines of ST.
Am I right? :)

Yeah a way so that it is possible to log on and in fifteen minutes have seen everything that is the least bit interesting. Then as it is updated each day you can spend less than two minutes and log the hell off.
And a rating system like those that allow you decide whether to do the climb with yellow painted holds or the blue ones. Cool!
You guys have to work harder at being up to date as to how you actually function. Hawkins' case for us being totally uncontrollable predicting machines means our failure to predict successfully is the only event that fully engages us. We love surprise. We love mystery(Krauss/Feynman)
What is it you love the most when you find buried in blather a well phrased exposition of an event or idea that was totally unpredictable.
The best climbs are those that have surprises one after the other.

Oh, like the Five Open Books, complete with bookmarks to make sure we don't confuse Surprise with Bridwell's Surprise, the Jungle with Werner's Ant Tree, the Commitment with Bridwell's Surprise, the Werner's Ant Tree with the Green Strip, ad nauseum. I kinda like being confused. Post-its. File cards. Notes on the palm. Everyone's favorite, the paper clip. There is a viable way to do this. Probably not happening in my life time.

Hmmmm...how about a list called the "Glue of Supertopo" or perhaps "Guides of Supertopo"? (No, I'm not starting a debate here just let me finish my thought, for Pete's sakes before ya'll come out of your corners swinging!)
Being very new around here, but not unobservant, I've noticed and come to really appreciate the folks that keep things interesting, keep good things rolling, step in and make a newbie feel welcome, point folks to related threads of interest, etc.
I'm at the end of my workday, and my brain is balking. What the heck do you call those piles of stones used to mark direction/paths? (And I don't mean breadcrumbs or trail markers...) Sigh...that would probably be a better word than either of the above. :D
Edit: Inuksuk. That was the word...can't believe I had to google it.

Forgot to add that a rating system that is searchable is a great idea. But it would also need to have the ability to contrain by date range if one is all up to date on ST's greatest and only want to see, say what the best of the last week was.
And if you can save your searches based on this criteria, that would be icing on the cake.
Thanks for thinking about this kind of stuff Chris!

a). Werner Braun
b). Mark Hudon

Anastasia,
I didn't put down "WISDOM" (yet)...(okay, that/Guru entails wisdom, but it is more specific).
I put Guru/Bahgwan!!
And I thought Neebee was a "writer"! By artist i meant painter, etc,!
Plus...my list is just my ideas. i expect everyone to have their own.
And, i was just more or less joking. didn't expect anyone to take me serious(they never do)! ;)
And finally, it looked like the thread was dying, so i made a dum suggesstion. It's CMac's thread. as if i can jump in and tell everyone to vote!
Plus, nobody ever takes me serious(Oh, i already said that.)!
Finally, quit picking on me and make your own dang list!! ;)
EDIT: Largo = ZenMaster!! plus a few other admirable things...
BTW, i wasn't done yet(i was just gettin started)and yer already telling me i forgot somebody!! Sheeesh!
Ya hurt my feelings...I QUIT(making a list). lol
EDIT/EDIT: it's all Werner's fault...for calling us stoopid!
Ya better be nice to me or i'll post fifty songs in a row on the music thread and piss everybody off!! lol/;)
