For sheer entertainment and hilariousness of writing, my vote is for " To the Grack and Back: A Dr Suess Trip Report". Sheer brilliance!

To those that enjoy TR's I found it interesting through the process of reading and bumping 40-50 TR's that have not been commented on for quite some time over the last several days and therefore bring them to the top of the forum list that me suspisions that climbing material is removed from the forum list has been confirmed. Most of the TR's probably 40-50 I bumped over the last week are no longer on the forum list. Spire 4 and Easy Grit TR's being two examples. Go to their last post and then to that time slot on the forum list and they are not there.
Why would they be removed? All of them had really good climbing related material and would surely slide down the list like everyother forum thread, but I can't help but think that their lack of posts leads to less income for the site and therefore their removal. Who removes these and why? Just curious not that it makes a whole lot of difference in the world.

Here's a nod to "Hazel Findlay on Golden Gate." A fine recount of a proud ascent.

mike m, that is a really interesting observation, if true. I'll have to go take a look later today when I have a few minutes to spare.
Thanks...

It's hard to pick out just one, absolute, best TR of the year but this might be a good contender for the Badass Category!

Mike M., Is this one of the trip reports that you mean? For Easy Grit.
http://www.supertopo.com/tr/Easy-Well-Protected-Grit-Is-Still-Hard-TR/t10608n.html
I see your post on the trip report, bumping it up, but when I search your forum posts, that post doesn't appear. Plus the trip report doesn't appear during the time frame of the last person posting to it.. In this case..
Wade Icey Nov 2 6:15 pm.
Thats weird.
..
Edit: Just searched Wade's posts and his post to that trip report doesn't appear either. Yet the trip report is still in the reports section.

Mungeclimber, I know the year is not over yet. I think I stated that in the first post of the thread. Just thought it would be nice to have a thread that gives props to all the folks who worked hard to bring positive climbing related material to the site instead of threads to vote for who folks hate the most etc. etc. Maybe we can take a count of "votes" around Jan 15th.

John Moosie, I thought I had noticed the same thing a while back and wrote a thread on it but it kind of seemed that I was whining over nothing so I deleted it. But apperently the TR's go off of the forum list at some point, but I have not figured out how or why. They do not go off of the Trip Report list only off the forum list. I wonder if forum topics get taken off the forum lists, I don't think they do, accept for inappropriate material. My guess is they want posts not just views, and if too many people are reading climbing literature(Supertopo TR's has some of the best climbing literature out there) they are not posting.

So many good ones. The TR of Damnthislookshigh and his son is really fantastic though. If forced to chose only one, it'd be that one. I love people being real and not being afraid to show they are human. This TR is loaded with that.

The best category: all of the father son/daughter TRs. Zander, Jim Herson, Damn this looks high, Do, Micronut. Non-climbers have a hard time relating to our foreign trad and big wall lingo. But every parent I know loved reading the TRs authored by those listed above. Sharing these links was a treat.
The best running TR: elcap-pics. For many, this is the main reason why they lurk on ST.
The year isn't over. I'm holding out for the Reticent TR. Seriously doubt this will disappoint.

Excerpt from A Laywoman's Account of a Not Too Soggy Siege on the Salathe with Some Spaniards
I love the stuff written by Tahoe523. The gal has big adventures and a style of writing that is poignant, fun and real. I love her "Laywoman's accounts" on Astroman and The Big Stone.
