Dan is above Atlantis, Kevin is above a Beehive. Both are cool. Subtract points if you dislike beanies or lycra.

The Osman "flag" is way out there .......

Osman has the best flag ever on a route.

if we were flaggers it might be different but we are climbers - kevin and dano are both as bad ass as it gets.

Worth noting that Osman has his upper arm in nearly full externernal rotation as he is holding on to a vertical crack. The other guy is holding a huge jug in neutral (with his head against the rock.)

edit regarding spotters not much point in spotting Dano up there

What everyone else said.

Unfortunately, the masses that buy most of today's crag rags wouldn't see any difference.

externernal

Wouldn't that take an extra elbow?

Kevin Jorgeson wins this heinous battle easily because he is the only one honoring the age old wisdom of maintaining three points of contact with the rock.

Hairball or highball?

Dano wins. Just super clean everything- form, rock, attire.

I agree that the photo of Dano is better than the photo of Kevin....

Dano indeed had several broken ribs sustained in a bike crash earlier in the day. He went into shock later in the evening. He also didn't know his picture was being taken; videographer was changing film and he was hanging around waiting and got bored so decided he might as well flag.

Why compare? They're both bad ass moves?

Ask yourself this can you flag?

You could say he had a Bandaloop moment.

Both are great climbers. DanO's photo looks better of course, but I do not think of Kevin as anything but top level of climbing.

Really good form on Osman's flag. Legs together. Toes pointed. My daughter's gymnastics coach would approve.

christ, why compare??? you guys seem a little petty.

get real, climbing is a pointless self indulgent past time.

DanO by far.....

Dan drops, Dan Dies or is brutally injured, perfect form as well, off a crack

Jorgeson, spotter, falls maybe breaks something peripheral, poor form, off a jug

I look at Dano on his pole often as the photo hangs on my office wall. He inspires me to greater feats of mediocrity. Both climbers are obviously awesome, but Dano's is the better, bolder flag. I've climbed Thin Ice to the left a couple of times, so I'm almost as cool, right?

Now is that cool or what? Only on the taco can you hear the story straight from the "horses mouth" (sorry, don't know a thing about your mouth:-).

Thanks for telling that, Warbler. What became of the rest of the photos from that day? Any place online we can see them?

Cheers for capturing one of THE all-time climbing images. Right up there for me with the unforgettable images:

LH on The Nose,
PC on The Rostrum,
JB on Nabisco, and again on Outer Limits p2,
WG on Separate Reality,
The Bird's 4 rurp belay,
Largo pressing the mantle with cig,
WH topping out the Nose,
RR and CP NA Wall bivy...

Some of the iconic images of climbing. This shot of Osman is right up there.
