Really support your new "screening" policy. There's a lot of great information to be gained from this type of forum but wading through some of the incredibly moronic entries has been trying. Thanks!

Nice job. Now I search for all my moronic posts.
Time will tell what effect this has on the forum.

I applaud the change to the SuperTopo forum. Let's hope this reduces the garbage that used to be posted anonymously.

I'll bet there will be more informative threads, but maybe there should be a corner for some of the off topic rants? Or is everybody just going to be nice? What a thought.

I suppose you could always go to rockclimbing.com

I like the idea of having both a tame and tumultuous forum. I don’t mind logging in but I'm going to miss some of the trollers; “Some” being the key word. Keep it fun!

the best thing about the new ST forum is that we will only have to check it once a week in order to be current on all topics, largely because no one posts here any more (funny that...).

It used to be like an online deli session at times, now it's like a series of approved slide shows at the lodge.
I miss the wild west atmosphere.
After thousands of hours sitting at the deli listening to the twisted humor of people who pick up body parts for a living I’ve enjoyed the irreverence. I think I can usually tell when someone is truly racist or full of hate as opposed to someone who is just trying to be shocking.
But the free-for-all couldn’t last. It’s Chris’ sandbox and he and all the kids in neatly starched jumpers were bound to get tired of the brats from the trailer park leaving turds and dead cats in it.

it was not hard to sift through the stupidity to find the valid info....if and when that was what i was after.
Loom: nice analogy...trailer trash kids shitting in the ST sandbox n all. see? i still get some crisp, ol E influenced, chuckle inducing literature in the ST forum.

It isn't that hard to create a false ID and flame away...
I like the change because I don't have to log in any more to post...I would like a feature that allows us to go back and edit posts afterwards, for spelling errors, etc.

I am bored silly, now...
Yes...all the "new and improved" posts are great, full of good stuff.. but...
Been there done that at rockclimbing.com. It has enough great and good stuff, too. It lacked humor. ST had humor. Now ST lacks humor.
Well, hope it works out for the best zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

The thing is Jeff, I have never known anything different. ST started for me in 2008.
Maybe it's like climbing. The young pups don't know about the Ditch bitd, but they are making their own history....as am I and other newbies around this grate ST campfire of awesome folk.
But you guys have kept the Forum alive so it was there waiting for our wonderful discoveries. Smiles, lynne

Yeah, there is a lot of waffle, yes I do not climb as much as in the past, yes I have cut down on my postings, but ST is the one forum I can go to and enjoy.
