Bahh, I missed your cutoff post...
Just for the record. Two kids, no aborts. They know who their daddy is.
I'm the responsible-to-a-fault geek who you climbing-bum types sneer at.
Chicks don't dig me.
But my boys know I would run into the burning building for them, and thats all I care about.
For the high and mighty ones spouting off about responsibility,
:)-

Spin K... rest assurred I've since had the big V. The episodes were 20 to 14 years ago and Love gloves were not the norm at least in my circle of associates.
1 I can't remember the actually details of the first pregnency and what we were using for B>C>, that was a long time ago and I try to block those wasted years out of my waking state of consciousness.
2 Diaphram and spermacidal foam
3 said "she was on the pill "( lying snapper... possible)
Maybe even though I'm only a 5.10 climber a 5.12 beer drinker, my swimmers are 5.13's let's just hope they can't find a way out....

There are Jews in the world.
There are Buddhists.
There are Hindus and Mormons, and then
There are those that follow Mohammed, but
I've never been one of them.
I'm a Roman Catholic,
And have been since before I was born,
And the one thing they say about Catholics is:
They'll take you as soon as you're warm.
You don't have to be a six-footer.
You don't have to have a great brain.
You don't have to have any clothes on. You're
A Catholic the moment Dad came,
Because
Every sperm is sacred.
Every sperm is great.
If a sperm is wasted,
God gets quite irate.
Every sperm is sacred.
Every sperm is great.
If a sperm is wasted,
God gets quite irate.
Let the heathen spill theirs
On the dusty ground.
God shall make them pay for
Each sperm that can't be found.
Every sperm is wanted.
Every sperm is good.
Every sperm is needed
In your neighbourhood.
Hindu, Taoist, Mormon,
Spill theirs just anywhere,
But God loves those who treat their
Semen with more care.
Every sperm is sacred.
Every sperm is great.
If a sperm is wasted,
God gets quite irate.
Every sperm is sacred.
Every sperm is good.
Every sperm is needed
In your neighbourhood!
Every sperm is useful.
Every sperm is fine.
God needs everybody's.
Mine! And mine! And mine!
Let the Pagan spill theirs
O'er mountain, hill, and plain.
God shall strike them down for
Each sperm that's spilt in vain.
Every sperm is sacred.
Every sperm is good.
Every sperm is needed
In your neighbourhood.
Every sperm is sacred.
Every sperm is great.
If a sperm is wasted,
God gets quite iraaaaate!

"This battle is wholly the product of those forces intent on restricting women's options."
Truth be known, I'm pretty big on objective reality--even to the extent that a lot of so called spiritual mysteries can be objectively and experientially known. But the origin of the "knower" and how it all unfolds as it does is an ungraspable truth.
That much said, I don't see the entire abortion issue in all-or-nothing terms. There are people who in their hearts (and I'm one of them) who simply wonder about the morality of abortion with no thought or ax to grind with any woman or any woman's rights. What makes this tricky is that any practical decision we make affects woman's rights, and because I think this is an issue that every woman needs to wrangle down for herself (since it's her body), I leave the abortion question up to the females. It seems a little cowardly to leave the decision to others, but maybe that's just a paternalistic POV I've inherited. But it's not my choice and I'm not willing to make it for others--and that's not a very objective view, but it's my view.

I empathize with your point of view and I'd totally subscribe to it if the decision was being left up to women to make. Unfortunately it isn't and that is one of the hard political "realities" we face today. There are forces in our country who do view it as "all or nothing" and they are intent on making that decision for all women. That's a battle line I know which side I stand on. I'd love that the situation was different, but sadly it isn't.

What if we passed an amendment granting only women to vote on an abortion amendment. And the amendment to let them vote passed. What if the amendment to allow abortion did not pass? Where would we be?
Is this nation a nation of laws or a nation of men and women?
Happie, did you get your statistics stuff figured out?

I personally was referring to individual women - not a female vote on the issue. My view on this issue is no vote or laws are necessary nor are they desirable.

TIGger(hahaha....your new nickname) -
I am not a math geek. I do not have a clue as to what it was you were attempting to get at......
But - I did make the poll, and it is a very nice blue color!
Actually - I would like to send the poll out, but I wanted to get input from people beforehand(especially since I seem to missing some concept, you say).
Anyway - the poll I made is very simple. It can only take 100 answers, though, which isn't all that big a representation. But! - what I did was to make the same poll - one for men, one for women, to answer. That way, we can get 200 people included.
The poll has 2 questions
1) What is your gender?
_Male
_Female
I put this in to catch error if someone responds to the poll intended for the other sex.
2) How many abortions have you had?
_0
_1
_2
_3
_4
_5
_6
_7
_8
_9
_10
_Other(with space for people to write whatever they will).
On the poll to men, there is a notation to provide only the number for abortions that they knew of, since surely there are men out there who are unaware a partner has aborted. And also, only abortions where they reasonably assume their sperm was part of the equation, as I am sure there are some men who have stepped in to support a woman having an abortion, and it was not they who impregnated the woman. While it was surely as emotional for the guy as if it were his sperm, the fact is, that it was not his act that brought the circumstances about.
The polls can still be edited. So - if people are interested in the idea.....my questions are:
Does anyone have specific wording on the "how many" question they think would serve the poll best?
Are there any other questions that should be asked? You can have up to 10 questions. I prefer to keep it simple, but maybe - since we're at it - somebody has anotheer idea.
If people express interest, I will edit if needed, and post to this site and also to rc.com, which has a similar thread going on. I think that, with people emailing the urls for the polls out to friends, we could probably get the full 100 of each sex in one day.
For analysis of the results - like I said, I have no brain for this stuff. The site does some analysis, so - if someone wants other questions added, they might want to check the site(www.surveymonkey.com) to see what sort of things are available, and make sure any questions are designed in order to produce results correctly.

Why do I have the strange feeling that in any honest tally ST denizens would be racking up some serious numbers in this poll...

I say we do what most of the conservative nuts want; that is make it impossible for people to get contraception.
That will bring the number of abortions down.

LOL and wiping tears from my bloodshot eyes.
I am male. Regardless of poll color.
I have had 0 abortions in blue. Thank god you did not ask in pink, then it would have been 100.

And so this is your idea of a witticism? I did think the bolding was especially clever, however...
