Nov. 4 (Bloomberg) -- U.S. President George W. Bush's approval rating dropped to its lowest level ever, according to an Associated Press/Ipsos poll conducted after a key White house aide was indicted and another withdrew as Supreme Court nominee.

Only 37 percent of Americans surveyed Oct. 31 to Nov. 2 said they approved of the way Bush is handling his job as president, according to a summary of results published on the Ipsos Web site. That's down from 39 percent at the beginning of October and the lowest since the AP/Ipsos poll was first taken in Dec. 2003.

The poll mirrors the results of three other surveys conducted after a series of setbacks hit the Bush administration. I. Lewis Libby, quit Oct. 28 as Vice President Dick Cheney's chief of staff, after being indicted on obstruction of justice and perjury charges, a day after Harriet Miers, Bush's pick for the Supreme Court, withdrew her nomination, and three days after the U.S. death toll in Iraq reached 2,000.

A Washington Post/ABC News Poll and surveys by CBS and Zogby International yesterday also showed Bush's approval rating falling to record lows.

Just 35 percent of the public said they approved of how Bush is handling his job in the CBS News poll, lower than any two-term president in the last 48 years except Richard Nixon, according to the network's data. The Zogby International poll found his job approval rating at 39 percent, as did the Washington Post/ABC News survey.

Disapproval

According to the latest AP/Ipsos poll, 20 percent of adults interviewed said they ``strongly'' approved of Bush, 10 percent ``somewhat'' approved and 7 percent said they ``lean toward'' approving of his performance. A total of 42 percent said they ``strongly'' disapproved -- the greatest in at least a year.

Ipsos interviewed 1006 adults for the poll, which has a margin of error of 2.1 percent. The results were published late yesterday on the Ipsos Web site. A year ago, the poll gave Bush a 51 percent approval rating among registered voters.

The CBS poll was conducted Oct. 30-Nov. 1 among a sample of 936 adults. The margin of error is plus or minus 3 percentage points. The Post/ABC survey of 1,202 people was conducted Oct. 30-Nov. 2 and has an error margin of 3 percentage points. The Zogby poll was conducted Oct. 29-Nov. 2 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.4 percentage points.

I guess that means that 63% of Americans are whiney snot-nosed bleeding heart liberals who would rather roll over and die than stand up to our Arab oppressors.

Now get a load of this! George W Bush, reg'lar guy:

"The thing I like about this fellow [Virginia gubernatorial candidate Jerry Kilgore] is he grew up on a farm," Bush said in a brief stop on his return from a South American trade mission. "He doesn't have a lot of fancy airs."

Sure George W Bush, son of an oilman/President, grandson of a Senator, part of the New England old money establishment. He's just a reg'lar ol' country boy just like you!

Here's an question:

Do you believe that any military (US or otherwise) should have the right and ability to use the level of "persuation" that Donald Rumsfeld signed off on for detainees at Abu Gareb and Gitmo?

-

Personally, I do not and I'm saddened that this admin seems hell bent on using torture to get information from terrorist.

Not only do I believe that torture will get you crap-all for information from a terrorist... we are setting a standard that says this is what we did to you, so go ahead and do it to our troops.

One other question: How the hell is ahmed chalabi not in jail?
