I'm not surprised, I did Rewritten last year on a visit out to the Denver area & thought there were a bunch of loose looking death blocks all over the place. I commented at the time that someone is gonna get hurt when that block goes.

Super-glad nobody got hurt. Be careful out there!

hey there ... say, they are doing maintenance at the link ... oh my... what timeing...

1--well, say, once question was... how long until things settle after things like this until folks can climb without the far worse than normal dangers...

2--or---is it forever worse, from then on? and folks should steer clear?...

3--and, say, do they post the extra info, in these cases, so folks that travel to climb, will know the resent unsettledness---or will only locals forever know...

also... say, how many folks have climbed here, in the past... is it a really neat place to enjoy, and such... ?

My partner and I were on the receiving end of that rockfall yesterday. The block that fell was a time bomb, I've climbed that route several times before and thought it would come off someday each time I stepped around it. We've had a lot of rain but rockfall like this in Eldo is somewhat to be expected, especially in that particular area. If you read the comments on any of the climbs around there there are several warnings about rockfall on the Redgarden wall. Generally Eldo is known for loose rock and rockfall, so nobody should be real surprised especially if you've climbed even a single day there. I still thought I was going to die, though.

My very first climb in Eldo back in 1963 was Redgarden Wall and I managed to knock a rock off and slice my partner's climbing rope in half on the first pitch of 5th class climbing. Some things never change it seems.
