47 year old Lynn Hill completed Chablanke a V11/12 (font 8A/+) boulder problem at Hueco Tanks, Texas a couple of days ago.
The mother of a 5 year old, Owen, Lynn has been at the forefront of climbing since the 1970's including many firsts for a woman. Perhaps the pinnacle of her career was the first free ascent, male or female, of El Capitan's 23 pitch Nose route which she gave 5.13b (8a) although many say 5.14 or 8b+. A year later in 1994 she returned to the Nose and completed the first one day free ascent. In 1991 she was the first woman to climb 5.14a or 8b+ with Masse Critique in Cimai, France.

smooth....
i have always wanted to (tongue in cheek) ask "So what did Lynn name the route formerly known as "the nose" after her FFA.?" It would just about be criminal, but isn't it the poragitive of the first person or team to choose to or not to rename former aid routes?
just something small that's been rattling around in my head.

I thought the title said she onsited V11 / 12 and I was all Whoa ! I guess it would depend on how subtle the sequence was tho .

But is it really 5.13 if you never get tired? Lynn has such great endurance and really good technique that she makes it all look easy. Congrats to little Lynnie.

Yes you can get lowered off a route after an onsight and it still counts as one. Kind of like if you climbed astroman onsight but had to walk past it on the NDG, you still climbed it onsight, even though you looked at it later. I think that was the question?
