Hey climbers,

I am only $900 away from reaching my $10,000 goal for 2008. 100% of proceeds goes to Non-profits.

HERE IS THE CURRENT AUCTION: http://shop.ebay.com/merchant/chrismcn7

The auction it includes
Brand new set of HB offsets - very rare!
 #5 Camalot
 Metolius Ropebag
SuperTopo books signed by Tom Frost, Tommy Caldwell and more
 SuperTopo Topo Cards
 North face vapor wick shirt
 Metolius Bouldering bag

Check it out!

THE BASIC IDEA (that i hope more people will emulate)
1) I grab all the stuff from my garage I have not used in a year
2) list items on eBay
3) the auction for the item is then promoted on SuperTopo
4) 100% proceeds go to non-profits

WHO BENEFITS:

1) NON-PROFITS: 100% of proceeds goes to the non profits listed below. Non-profits need support now more than ever
2) YOU - you get a good deal on gear while feeling good that 100% of your purchase goes to a good cause.
3) THE EARTH - idle stuff is being put back to use (supports reuse economy)
4) ME - I de-clutter my life AND get a tax deduction.

So far I have done 5 or so of these auctions and raised $9100 in 2008 (or $14100 if you count the $5000 matching contribution from the Rowell Award to Central Asia Institue

$5000 for Central Asia Institue match by $5000 from Rowell Award
$500 for Yosemite Climbing Assn
$2500 for Access Fund
$250 for CRAGS
$100 for Kismet Rock Foundation
$100 for Kumbu Climbing School
$25 for South Eastern Climbers Coalition
$10 for Gunks Climbers' Coalition Rescue

Thank you everyone who has bid on auctions this year!

So far the following companies have chipped in to my auctions:

Sender Films - http://www.senderfilms.com/
Marmot - http://marmot.com/
Windstopper - http://www.windstopper.com/remote/Satellite/home
Osprey - http://www.ospreypacks.com/portal.php
Chiloe's Chile - http://chiloschile.com/

you could donate directly to the non profits.

or you could go bid on some items and potentially get some stuff for your donation.

hey there chris.. wow, GREAT job!....

say, sure wish and hope that someday my 50-100% non-profits (as i have to keep some, if they sell, for heat, at least, for when i am nearly broke in winter times ) ---well---i sure hope they succeed some day...

so far, the idea is not doing its out-reach, except for 10 bucks that my is my full profit, so far, the other money that came in for some books, was to pay back my bank account, for the books i bought myself, to send out... at least the seizre awarness word got out though... :)

somehow, i will see this through, i reckon...

keep up the good work... your wonderful goal is precious and a great solution for clutter, three cheers and MORE!!!

god bless and good air currents and kind landings to you, and may you keep on reaching out with new ideas, :)
