It's really a tragedy that our most beloved rock faces have fallen into such disrepair. The NPS needs more maintenance funding than ever! Call your congressman!

It seems a little matching paint could take care of the problem.

Neat photos. The scar shown in the center of the photo is actually the product of several relatively small rockfalls over several years. The larger July 2006 rockfall occurred from the upper right corner of the photos, along the right side of the arching flake (near the trees). Interestingly, most of these failures occurred during the summer months, without recognizable triggering mechanisms.

That's a great before and after. The linked TR from those on the wall is cool too. I assume that the slabs approach is fine now?

We called it the Grateful Dead Dancing Indian as it looks like a indian with a feather in his hat, facing left, left arm out stretched, with a arrow bag on his back doing the Grateful Dead bear dance move.

Good stuff, Chris!
Yeah, the scar on the lower left (Kali Yuga area) has been growing as well.
Looks like an arching corner has formed in the middle of the larger scar, with a thin pillar at its base. Who’s gonna bag the FA? Ya can’t say that the rock ain’t clean…

edit: First photo looks like a man with a sack of laundry on his back riding a sheepdog, or alternately, a man about to whack a sheepdog over the head with said sack of laundry.
Second photo def Sasquatch
