And here's the happy tyke, in April 2007.
(Erik - MisterE - is the one on the left.)
I meant to post this ages ago. Erik was at the sushifest in St. George, and a great help before and during the FaceLift. At the FaceLift, he met Royal Robbins for the first time since the first photo was taken. Sadly, none of us thought to take a photo.
I do like that first photo - it's a lovely little poem. It's printed in Glen Denny's picture book, Yosemite in the 1960s. When I was in the Valley for the FaceLift, I went to the Ansel Adams gallery and had a look at the book. When I saw Erik's photo, it was fun to think that we were camping together in Camp 4.

Oh f*#k, I f*#ked up. I'm renting my place out to the "little tyke". WTF am I thinking?
Good for you bro! Maybe one day Alpinist will regard SushiFest as newsworthy and I'll get some play. Or... KNOTT!

Thanks for the bump, Anders. It was really great to spend some time working and hanging with you at the Facelift. I got my invitation to the photoshow, but just can't make it.
You can post that picture if you want Riley. I have little, if any shame, and it was a fun re-enactment.

I should note that in person Erik seems fairly clean. Perhaps not fastidiously so, but then what climber is? The hippyness is an inner state of being, so I can't comment on that bit.
Mark was actually telling Erik fish stories when I took the picture. Funny thing to talk about in the desert, but there you go.
