Nice pics, BB. Abbey is a damn twin to my dog Maggie. Actually Maggie has a slightly different head, but they are really similar. Do you know what breed Abbey is? I think mine is chihuahua/terrier. Sorry to put my pic in your TR, but see the resemblance?

Thanks again, all!! I was awestruck at the flowers in the alpine and subalpine zones... It was an incredible summer in so many ways!!!
nita - the blue flowers are Mertensia for sure, but as to the species... The book I've got my hands on doesn't break down into species, only genus. (Tall chiming bells/mountain bluebells). The bistort is the bistortoides; I also have a pretty cool pic of the vivipara that I'll post as soon as I can. What type of Castilleja are these?????
Bluering - we think the Abmonster is min-pin/wennie dog (as per a vet or two and her stinky wennie-dog-breath... ugh) but she likely has a bit of fruit bat thrown in for good measure. Judge for yourself!!

BB, They look like lemmon's paintbrush- Castilleja lemmonii, common in Tuolumne Meadows. In the field of flowers pic.
The above pink flower? Don't know...?? Orthocarpun tenuifolia??
just a guess.

Bitchethaned, no windows. At least it doesn't pour inside the dining room and onto the computer desk in a heavy rain now. Now we're onto the fun stuff, like cutting off body parts in exchange for kitchen cabinets.

RR - at least there's a couple of "expendable" body parts to cut off, but to get the truly fine stuff, ya might consider selling your soul or something along those lines. That tends to serve to speed up the finishing process, as well, so most certainly something to consider Regarding the kitchen cabinets... Talk with What's-His-Name...Perhaps that may serve as a tantalizing lure to get him back in your neck of the woods so you boys can konker Windsor Locks once and fer all (which would mean that K and I would have an opportunity to play on the sane stuff!)
nita - potentially the pink one is an albino Castilleja?? It was gorgeous, and there were only about 5 or 6 of them that I saw the entire summer... I dunno, just throwing out thoughts!
Here's one for you that I am at a complete loss as to what in the world it is...
Ran across it when we were at between 10500 & 11000. Wiht the exception of their tendrils shriveling up even more than they already are in this pic, I never saw them progress from anything beyond this point. Intriguing, to say the least... Some type of orchid?? For me, they're usually the most difficult to ID...
Also, here's the Bistorta vivipara

Nice shots BB! I imagine that I could learn a thing or two about digital photography from you.
It is great to see that your trip went well. Ring me up when you are ready to hhit the southern sandstone or NC granite again.
Back to school? I feel your pain...
