Ed, while you are posting, below the box, there is a "Help" link. It should clear it up. Between the and [ /url] is what you want your link to read.
Tuolumne Meadows by Tom Higgins
Suggestion. Load up those text files into MS Word. Then save them as html (Web pages). Then redo the URLs above. That way people can easily read them in their browsers.
Though not as obvious, you can embed an image between so that clicking on a picture will work.
(My friend Rajmit figured this trick out. I can't take credit for it.)

Note the blue (pre-click) border. It turns red after a click.

Ed,
Keep what low tech? The file formats? If so, they are horrible now, at least on IE on a PC. You may be able to read them on a Mac, but if you click on them in my browser every paragraph is one single very long line.
You do not really have to format them in any special way. Word or some word processor capable of multiple formats should be able to turn your text files into plain vanilla html. I will send you one if you like.

I tried reading "Three Little Fishes" but it takes up
6 screenwidths.
Is there a neat trick I can do?
Is there a neat trick someone else can do?
Thanks

Scruffy, see my suggestion above the picture. You have to File save as in your browser. Then bring it up in notepad, Ctrl A, Ctrl C. Then bring up Ms Word, ctrl c. Save as and change the type to html (web). Then you can bring up in your browser.
Of course you may be able to read it ok in notepad, and skip the subsequent steps.

Ok, thanks. I saved it as HTML and then copied it onto
a Word document (ctrl C, ctrl V) and it fell right into
shape.

No problem. I am going to be lazy and wait. I just noticed that Ed figured out how to set up URLs for his text files. And I am hoping he'll convert them to html so they can be read in one stop.

ok, so I have a Mac...
I'll get to format with line breaks tonight... so sorry.
Gee, it's either Steve, Bill or the Penguin I guess.. and I don't like Bill, and the Penguin is never very stable.

I've put up the last of the list I had for "influential articles"
I'm sure there must be more...
...but this is what I had so far.

Ed, thank you very much. Great collection.
This should be saved on this site in some way, for easy reference down the road.
