Why does he ask this question? Probably because he's going to be the president and knowing if the people he hires have guns is a good idea! What does asking this question have to do with the 2nd amendment?
Besides, do you think Obama himself stuck this into the questionnaire? Can you imagine being faced with the task of assembling the staff needed and all the checking they'll need to do? Besides being unrelated to the 2nd amendment, the question is very security-appropriate for today's wartime White House employment application.

You know that "We are taking all your guns" legislation that always ALMOST passes through Congress every year? Well this year it's passing. It's the one called "Help America Die to the Imaginary Criminals Who are Always Ready To Invade Your House If You Don't Own at Least Six Guns" Act. Better learn how to swing a shovel.

As I posted upthread, there's no evidence as to who is asking the question(s), what exactly the question(s) is/are, or why they're being asked. All of which seems rather pertinent.
It seems much more likely that they're standard questions asked by the Secret Service or FBI of anyone with regular access to the president, than that it's a diabolic conspiracy to deprive paranoids of their right to own bazookas.

Yeah the founding fathers were such dipshits. If they were still alive I'm sure you'd really let them have it. I mean if the Constitution was to be "interpreted" we'd probably have an entire branch of government solely devoted to doing it. Preach on bluering!

The form, which is required by the Obama transition team, has seven pages. "The questionnaire includes 63 requests for personal and professional records, some covering applicants’ spouses and grown children as well, that are forcing job-seekers to rummage from basements to attics, in shoe boxes, diaries and computer archives to document both their achievements and missteps."
"The vetting process for executive branch jobs has been onerous for decades, with each incoming administration erecting new barriers in an effort to avoid the mistakes of the past, or the controversies of the present."
There are additional forms required by the FBI and the Office of Government Ethics, and I suspect for at least some the Secret Service also. There must be quite a lot of overlap between the various forms, and it seems likely that questionnaire A may well anticipate questions that will be asked in B or C.

The only question specifically relating to guns or firearms is #59, in the "Miscellaneous" section: "Do you or any members of your immediate family own a gun? If so, provide complete ownership and registration information. Has the registration ever lapsed? Please also describe how and by whom it is used and whether it has been the cause of any personal injuries or property damage."
It seems quite proportional to the other questions - although the form does seem a bit snoopy, I can understand why. Better to know any and all potential embarrassments in advance.
It would be interesting to compare this with the forms used by the FBI, the Secret Service, the ethics people - and the Bush administration.

And what about this William Ayers guy? Wasn't he like a terrorist or somethin? And didn't Obama like pal around with him? So therefore that makes Obama a terrorist, right?

Lois, everything you say is because you have plenty. What you are attached to is physical security, which is why you are willing to pay virtually anything for a strong military. It is also why you are blind to how the abuse of our military has led to weakening it, not strengthening it.
You have false humility because you have plenty. It does not come from your heart as evidenced by the fact that you would vote for George Bush again if he promised you a tax break. This is all a sign of attachment to the security that you think money provides. Take the money away and perhaps give you an illness so that you couldn't work and we would see a much different Lois, because the Lois we see now is based on material attachments.
Does this mean that you have no heart? Nope. It just shows attachment and ego. Something that can be overcome if you seek your true Self.

LEB, do me a favor will you? Seriously, tell me exactly, specifically, what part of what ideology you are concerned that President Obama will differ with LEB so much on.
I am sure you have thought this all out, and you are clearly very worried, or concerned, about something?\
Well, what exactly is it?
Do you fear he will NOT appoint anti choice judges, it that it?
Do you LEB make over $200,000 a year? So, it sounds like maybe your tax rate will go back to the pre-2002 level, does that just scare or bother you, are you afraid of dying poor? How much do you make, it this the real issue with you LEB? money?
So just WHAT exactly does his Presidency worry or concern you so much?

LEB, ok, now we are starting to get some where. You say you are concerned that Obama might be anti military. Please state what you have learned about him to give you this concern. I personally have seen only strong pro veteran voting records and full support for our military, so what specifically do you know that makes you believe he would be non supportive on our troops?
Also, you say you are concerned he may be too socialistic. LEB, respectfully, this is too vague a concern. Would you please tell me specifically what Obama has said that you deduce is socialist, and in what sense? Is your concern about your personal money or income, are you worried about your ability to make live on pre 2002 federal income tax levels? Just exactly WHAT kind of "socialist" are you so concerned about that would effect your life?
Thank LEB, I really would like to know exactly what really worries you so much about an Obama presidency.
