Well this just sucks!
I would love to go to the Facelift and volunteer my time and effort picking up trash and whatnot, and have the opportunity to meet some of you lovely people, but unfortunately that is the first week of school at the middle school where I will be beginning my semester as a long-term SUBSTITUTE TEACHER. 7th grade life science YEAH!!!
So hopefully I'll make it for saturday and sunday, but damn hell, prolly not.
Anyone up for bumping it up one week sooner?

If you're in YP the whole time, there is not much movement that should be taking place. It's pretty much on big area, from what I remember.

I apologize for some redundancy here (posted some of this on a J. Tree Thread tonight).
Bought some gear at my local Nomad Ventures here in beautiful Escondido, CA today...a grigri for you big guys and some Black Diamond Quick Draws, biners, and a stopper set.
(Unabashed plugs for both...they take good care of Lynnie.)
Black Diamond rep was there and tell ya BD he is a cool dude. Met him at J. Tree several years ago...he does your business good.
So ready to rock, got my supertopo guide book out and marked and nightly bugging my man that will be there for two days to CLIMB.

Just affirmed my plans. Dave aka Doctor and I are going to arrive the 20th. He needs to get back to Flagstaff on Sat the 27th. I want to stay for the big party on the weekend ....we'll see. If anyone is going east Friday let us know. We heard there might be someone in this predicament.High Desert is that you?? Let me know. I will have a climbing partner but am also looking for someone to do a couple long climbs I haven't done. I think they are 5.8-5.10. Stoked!

Well Riley I missed the big final shindig last year and wouldn't mind making it this year. At present if I have to leave early I'm gonna make the Doctor pay...he's gonna be my biotch/ropegun. Might not be a bad deal. But if your serious that someone is going east on Friday through Flag let's talk. It's not the biggest deal. I'm going for the climbing first, partying second for a change. When are youse all getting there?

Please see first post on thread - the following attempts to add to/clarify it. I won't repeat logistical information about the FaceLift itself, or the evening events.
AFAIK:
1. The 'official' FaceLift is September 24th - 28th (Wednesday - Sunday).
2. There is some free camping for those helping with the FaceLift, from the 23rd - 28th. All camping must be arranged with Chicken Skinner (Ken), in advance. There is some group camping in Yellow Pines for those helping. (Probably all camping now taken, but that's Ken's job.)
3. Doug (nature) and friends will put on a big sushi dinner on the evening of the 23rd (Tuesday). There will be follow-ups on the evenings of the 25th and 27th. Financial arrangements discussed earlier in thread.
4. Tim, Doug and friends will be providing pancake breakfasts on the mornings of the 24th - 28th. Financial arrangements discussed earlier in thread.
5. Some people will be arriving early, some as early as the 20th, to help Ken with whatever he needs help with. There is some camping for those who are doing so, but again only if arranged in advance. (There may be quite limited pre-FaceLift camping, and I don't know if there's any left.)
There are no FaceLift police, and no drill sergeants will be present this year. It's fairly informal. That said, the main goal is to help look after a special place. There are lots of different ways to do so, either directly (pick up garbage) or indirectly (help with organization, and making event a success). My personal rule of thumb is that for every day I'm there, I should put in at least a half day of work on the FaceLift. It seems a fair balance. Some work their asses off all day, every day.

Definitely - the cleanup is through the whole park. Based in the Valley, of course. If I remember rightly, last year there was even a garbage drop-off station in the Meadows. And working through that area is certainly an option - I wouldn't be surprised if a group headed up there one or two days.
Most of the pre-FaceLift activities are logistical and organizational, but there may be other possibilities. Ken would know - hopefully he's kept track of who's arriving when, and has some jobs planned for us. Somehow it will work out.

hey there you all.. say, i can't go... not enough funds, and i have a heavy project that just came up, too...
say, lynne, and anyone else that wants to, take in a deep extra breath of yosemite air, for me.... and say a big "hey there" to the trees, rocks, and water....

I will be driving in/out via San Francisco if someone wants a rideshare.
 ETA to airport 10:30am on Saturday, 9/20
Depart on Tuesday, 9/30 at 3:20pm
I'm clueless about SF, so would prefer riders meet me at the airport, but I will also do a run to Whole Foods(there must be one in SF, right? and some sort of store along the way for a cheap cooler, pillow(my luxury!) and propane cannister for my stove. Those are options for pick up points as well. But I really don't want to go driving around in residential neighborhoods that are several miles off the route..... Anyway, if anyone is interested, post up to this thread. I will check it. Sorry, no direct PM for initial inquiry....one's got to take some precautions against serial murderers, you know.
Note: Anyone got an idea when a good time to depart from Yosemite would be to get me to the airport on time(Tuesday, 9/30 at 3:20pm flight departure)?
I am the type who prefers to be there early and fill the time - definitely do not like stress of last minute! I figure I would want to be At the rental car return point at 1pm.
