The American Alpine Club has set up a donation fund for John Bachar.

Donations can be made to the American Alpine Club for the John Bachar Fund. People can either mail checks to us at:

American Alpine Club
710 10th St. Suite 100
Golden CO 80401

Or donate online at www.americanalpineclub.org. Click on “support us” and take it from there.

In either case we need to know in the memo line on a check or a note or the comment field in the online option that this is for John Bachar.

Anyone in Mammoth Lakes can still drop off donations at Mammoth Mountaineering and the Acopa shoe offer is still on. Although out of town people may do better to buy straight from Acopa. Wear Acopa.

Peter Croft has volunteered his time and a slide show!!! Date and place to be determined. Think about September 8 ish.

Peter can do on Thursday Sept 21 or Friday Sept 22. No go on Saturday. People have said they want to come from some distances. Is Friday better than Thursday just so people can come from out of town? Can we still celebrate Steves birthday on the 22nd?

I've looked through a few threads here and at Acopa's site and didn't see any info on the "Acopa shoe offer"....I've been thinking of buying some Spectres and if it would be an opportunity to help, I would rather do that than take advantage of a prodeal. Can someone provide a link or some info?

Go Acopa, go John, everyone else, go safely and with joy.

for the foreseeable future, Mammoth Mountaineering will give John the proceeds (after whsle) to John for his expenses, of our Acopa sales. We will cover shipping. you can call the store or email me at dave@mammothgear.com or 760 934 4191.

We have had some overseas people ask (we dont ship out of the US)and another about the B3 that we dont sell. Also, I would like to get our store name out of these posts. All we want to do is help. So, of course, when Acopa gets going again all sales directly through them will also benefit John and Acopa 100%.

Paypal account coming.

Some friends overseas requested a paypal button for John. With no where else to put it I put it on www.mammothgear.com

Hopefully it works and is an easy way for people to help.

Hey everyone,
Please do not be afraid to donate any amount. Even if you can only spare $5 or $20, every act of generosity will help. John has a broken neck and will need extensive treatment. Trust me when I say that the bills are going to be phenomenal.

During our time of crisis he was air lifted to Utah University Hospital. I am afraid to see what that bill is going to look like once it arrives.

Beyond that, thanks for all your well wishes. All of you have helped us with our psychological needs. Losing Steve is very hard to live with.

Best Regards,
Anastasia

Anastasia, glad to hear you're doing better. Yeah, the airlift cost is going to be a big one. Ground RA transports are about $500+ these days to a local hospital, I can't imagine what an airlift across state lines will be.

Just know everyone is pulling for you guys and will be doing all they can to help JB out with this. Stay strong and positive. Time will heal things and people will still be doing all they can to get John 100% again for some time to come. Financially, emotionally and otherwise.

ps - any Eastside benefits? I take it this one's in Golden. How about one in Bishop or Mammoth?

Fluoride, I'm pretty sure this benefit is on the East Side since it's being set up by MM with Peter Croft speaking. Dave can confirm this.

Cool tradboy, I just went back and read the initial post and was gonna change it cause I realized that was where the fund was, not the fundraiser itself.

What about a Labor Day event? Weekend BBQ funraiser and climbing, etc?? People would have a little more time to attend it from out of state since it's a long weekend.

Steve's sister suggested a good date, I would respect her wishes or opinion. Good date and a good inspiration for the family and ALL involved.

we have a date for Peter Crofts slide show.

Friday Sept 15 it is. Place still to be determined.

I believe a tentative date for Steves memorial is 9/22 in the bay area.

bump.

and also....everyone out there, think very hard about getting yourself a high-deductible health insurance plan. For about $90 a month you can have yourself covered for all expenses above the initial $3500-$5000.

You can also pair it with a Health Savings Account, which allows you to spend on medical treatments and take a tax deduction. And medical treatments can include dental work, prescriptions, doctor visits, physical therapy or even therapeutic massage.

Very worthwhile for anyone to think about. Terrible when events like this happen, but it can allow us all to make sure we will be taken care of if they happen to us.

As it was an auto accident, medical costs should be covered by the auto insurance.

I hope, anyway.

Insurance is legalized extortion. Most likely, there will be limits on the coverage from his auto insurance, possible exceeded in an accident with this level of trauma and response.

But I speculate.

I'll gladly donate some promo materials for this gig, stickers or a couple banners, if anyone from the event reads this, email grindstonegraphics AT gmail DOT com, ask for Pasha.

Heal and grow strong, condolences on your losses.

How about contacting some gear companies to donate gear for some kind of auction after the slide show?
