This is a random question.....
I got an e- mail from a non climbing buddy of mine, actually a pastor, that said the following....
"Hey Scott, when I was at the Renovare conference in San Antonio, TX, I met a woman who has a daughter named Kate . She is an avid climber and is 30-something, climbs El Cap 'n stuff like that. Have you ever heard of her?"
And I thinks to my self...."self? Could this be the Kate from Supertaco?"
If so.....Kate, your mom is proud of you. Small world. Thought I'd pass it along.

I was mostly kidding. :)
but generally the search engine indexes are really sticky so that one's internet rants end up being quite associable.
yet, the biggest issue is not the searchability, it is the fear and practical problem of being judged out of context. For instance, most folks know that I'm a pretty good guy. I'll rant from time to time, but very little real hostility or permament hostility. Those that have the time to know me will give the benefit of the doubt that a joke or irony or sarcasm in a post will come thru.
Now back on topic, Kate rocks!!!

Hey Micronut -
That was my mom! So funny, what a small world. She had been looking forward to conference for so long. This brought a huge smile to my face today. :)
Regarding real names...funny story-
I'm an independent consultant and frequently clients will google my name. One time I was on a telecon for work and somebody said "So...I understand that you can go for a week without a shower and not even look greasy." WHAT? Turns out that a friend who came up behind me and Melissa on Zodiac used my first and last name on a trip report and made the comment. They thought it was pretty funny. :)
Its great to hear that about my Mom, I'm going to call her today.
