Though never actually seen climbing through the air, this bird dives with unsurpassed ferocity, raining on those below. Also known as the poo poo platterpus.

umm -- i'm not sure how many folks actually confess to seeing one hatch -- or hatching one themselves ..

though often you will find one wrapped up in a brown paper bag --

I hope those are extinct!
I don't even want to find the "bones" of one of those "fowl" creatures!

Spotted one? I've seen 'em up close just before they fly. Keith Lober told me that he was almost hit by one once. Too bad it missed! They don't show up as often anymore due to the increased awareness of climbers these days but I know a famous climber who was ticketed for launching one off Reanimator. When he got down to the cars there was a note from the rangers asking him to come in to the ranger den and they weren't inviting him for wine & cheese.

If you're lucky you may get to see the even more rare "Peanut Backed Rattler". They can be found throughout the US as their rzange is rather large.

Hmm, reminds me of a time when I was young, picking up what I thought was a beasty brownie in a brown paper bag, below the Alcove.

And climbers don’t want to be regulated by the NPS or have to deal with a permit system…? How disrespectful of their right to climb El Cap and El Cap itself. Frickin’ lazy-ass clueless retards…

I remember reading a TR by Tony Yaniro (I think) about him getting married and doing a wall for the honeymoon. At some point a falcon took off and landed on their ledge and so they decided to respect the falcons territory and descend after a nice discussion.
