A moderate 5.6 that probally cut loose rocks on Tahquitz rock occured about 8:45 am. I hope no one is injuried.

The quake was located about 8 miles from Tahquitz. I am sure it scared away all the climbers.

San Jacinto fault I figure. A bigger event may be on the way.

There is DEFINITELY something bigger coming. 180 quakes since the initial one at 0845. Something in the 7.0 range within a week, mark my words.

I was in Idyllwild County Campground this morning when the quake rumbled through. Sounded like thunder, but the rolling under our feet left no doubt it was a quake. Nothing rolled down the hill in the campground, but we decided not to climb. We heard it was preceded by several smaller quakes earlier in the day, and was followed by a storm of aftershocks.

It seemed to be a pretty big quake we felt it in San Diego.

My partner and I were halfway up the slope to NW Recess when it hit. She's a US Marine and was having flashbacks of getting fragged until she noticed the trees all shaking. We just stood there kinda dumbfounded for about a minute waiting for the bombs to start coming off the big rock. Never happened - whew...
Climbed the rest of the day without incident but I'm glad we weren't high on route when it hit. That would have been a Dependz moment!
