I caught wind of Zenni a couple of weeks ago- they sound like a good option for cheap glasses, especially for kids (who will likely trash them easily) or for a spare emergency pair. As far as I could tell, you are stuck with the frame choices on their website, so ensuring that they will complement your garb is gonna be tough. You also need to know the pupillary distance, which is commonly not measured or specified on eye exam Rx's. They will not place a replacement lens in an existing frame, either- you have to use their frames.

they are awesome. it's not hard to measure your own pupillary distance with a ruler and a mirror.
to complement my glasses-store progressive glasses, and for a total of probably 20% of their cost, i now have computer glasses, two pairs of driving glasses (regular and sunglasses), and of course glasses-finding glasses. i have found no reason to think my expensive glasses are better in any way.
and it's not OT at all. beating these up in a wide crack or seeing them sail to the deck with a spare $13 memory titanium pair in your pocket is no big deal.

Everybody who needs glasses should have a crap pair to take climbing and another crap pair in the day pack in case they get trashed. This kind of deal works for that.
A crap pair in the car in case you forget doesn't hurt either.
Thank god for Lasix, ($600 in India) Now I can get by with drug store readers

I understand the guy's trying to get the price down
to about $3 so more of the less advantaged will be able
to afford them.
Good for him, he's really a hero!
