does anyone know what the deal with this is? will i be charged for a rescue and not get it covered on insurance?-even if i do have a goretex bivy bag?

Yes, even if you have a magic gore-tex bivy bag.
Borrow or trade with someone sleeping on the ground.

I don't work in the valley or anything, but there is a history of unprepared parties being charged with 'creating a hazardous condition' (exact language?) for negligent/stupid behavior.
Insurance companies rarely have your back once convictions are handed down. How much you care about this is a topic perhaps best discussed with your heirs.
Maybe if you had a Gamow bag, rather than a mere bivi sac...

Haggis, you should be more worried about what will keep you alive if the schist hits the fan more than how much they will charge you if you get rescued and have the wrong kind of gear. Your thinking is entirely backwards. Be independent – you should NEVER count on a rescue! Always bring a good synthetic sleeping bag on a wall. During poor-weather months, it is a good idea to bring a bivy sack, in addition to your portaledge rainfly. Plan ahead and don’t get stuck in bad weather. If you do, be prepared to deal with it on your own.

thanks guys good replys
this post is namly to prove a point. i do plan on using my synth bag on the wall and no i dont care how much it costs to keep my ass intact.
down bag's in scotland are a skill, i dont however think the skill is transfreable.
again the fourm drags up some ace replys. ill be in camp four with the water of life and it true scottish style you are welcome to join me. (Glen Goyne 18yr me thinks)
