these days i can't seem to muster up a tear for anything. my wife thinks im insensitve. quite the contrary though. i know that at times i could use the release offered by a good cry, but as long as i can remember, my emotional well has been dry.

to my wife i defend myself..."its just conditioning dear." as, quite often in climbing, emotions that are stirred up are denied release. this "shutoff" is celebrated as a cool head, and is essential to many types of climbing. after years of exercising this survival mechanism, i've lost the ability to selectively allow emotions to flow.

i tell her that my 'insensitivity' is crucial to my survival, as that quarter incher winks at me from the weighty abyss beckoning below...

hey there norwegian.. say... just be open and honest, as you have been and share with her--thus there is no dividing wall between you both... and show you feelings in some other kindness, and love will win out... :)

she must know you well by now, and know that what you say is true to feel, for your apsects on climbing, etc... so she will take to understand... the key is just to share in kindness, and often, as in relationship,etc... or she will think it is just an "excuse"... best wishes...

hey there.. say, norwegian.. say, if you do want some kind of teary release though... say, just get along with the nature's best---say, a quiet meadow, or in the view of a great chain of rocky mountain, etc... but not for the climb... just kick back and think and dwell with deep reflection on it all... the awe of it all, just may hit you deep... and a good-fair river of ol' tear just may hit "gyser" phase... good luck, best wishes... and some prayers to ya'.... :)

I cry when I climb with Locker. It just seems to happen; don't know why.
