Another one for those who know their "Routes Away From The Crowds."

Hint:
-California (duh!)
-Original route is on this areté and was described as, "...11 pitches of choice high-country granite along this narrow ridge."

Any ideas what the rock formation is called?

edit: Yes, I know the scan sucks. It seems the Kodachrome emulsion is starting to age and... I STILL need a slide scanner. Next week, for sure.

Nope, not Bear Creek Spire (although that is a fine piece of rock, too.)

Despite the description stating, "...high-country granite..." I would not really call the location "high country."

Also, this route is IV 5.9 if that helps.

I'm thinking either Angel Wings or Castle Rock Spire, but I can't figure out which route it would be...

Damn Aldude, you're right. I almost went that way, now I'm kicking myself having looked it up in Secor after seeing your post. Way to go.

The Obelisk, near Wishon Reservoir, Fresno County. A “wild” guess.

EDIT: after I posted, without looking first, I googled your hint. Up came http://www.americanalpineclub.org/AAJO/pdfs/1974/141_lower48_aaj1974.pdf
