Internet Posting Leads Rangers To Fishing Violation
Ranger Dave Rapp prepared for a fishing compliance patrol on December 10th by first checking the activity on a popular internet discussion board used by many anglers visiting the park. He noticed one entry in which the author wrote that she had caught 22-inch and 24-inch stripers (rockfish) on Assateague Island – a violation, as Maryland state law establishes a minimum length of 28 inches for this species. The author also wrote that she was "keeping this baby for dinner!" Included in the entry was a photograph showing the angler holding up the fish. Rapp noted that the entry was only a few minutes old and that the photograph appeared to have been taken inside of the park. He located, recognized, and contacted the angler, who was still on the beach within the park. She produced a 21-inch striper, and reported that she’d utilized a Wi-Fi internet connection to post her entry from the park. A violation notice was issued for the undersized fish. I was itchin to try out my new Hilti/Bosch/cliffhanger bolt gun..

The only real difference between this and the child molester who got caught because someone was able to unphotoshop his PS disguised face is the seriousness of the crime.
If someone posted here that they were about to commit murder, and gave all the details, and you believed it, would you call the police?
If someone like Jody saw it what the hell should he do? Ignore it?
Besides your Big Brother analogy is way off. Big Brother set up surveillance for the purpose of government and government alone secretly spying on everyone. That game warden just used what is there for anyone to use.

I am not saying that what he/she fished was right...
nor am i saying that this pins rings to orwellian tune...
the 1984 ref was to "Big Brother is watching" "Big Brother is always watching" nothing more..
its just amazing to me that someone can stand up in a crowd and say it was me!!! I cracked the stink bomb! I put my dink in the mashed potatoes!!
why people stink bomb and molest the side dish - i cant explain/defend or pretend to understand.. (although i may have denied a few stink bombs in my day)
the crime is inexcusable..
i mean if she din't get busted on the beach, what was she gonna do next?
make a t-shirt?
mount the 21" striper on a board - in the back of her pickup?
she got what she deserved...
screw this.. i am going back to my bivy in the boulders behind the ranger station - its one really good bandit camp! I need to finish my gathering of firewood...
gonna cook me some 21" stripers!

I think criminals taking pictures of themselves redhanded should be encouraged! If you do a dumbass illegal thing, don't hang yourself. I call that good solid police practice that should be praised.
