Two climbers napping below the south side of the Grand Teton on Sunday evening awoke to a roar, rushed out of their tent and dodged a massive rockfall that put holes in their shelter and sleeping pads.

Several mountain guides, Grand Teton National Park employees and climbing clients witnessed the rockfall, which sent up a cloud of dust that was seen from the valley floor. The avalanche of debris originated above the Stettner Couloir, perhaps 12,800 feet up the 13,770-foot peak, cascaded across the morainal camping zone and ran onto the Middle Teton Glacier almost 2,000 feet below.

whatch-you-talkin-bout-dingus?

those guys will need new pads and a new tent, which some american manufacturing firm will outsource from a factory in thailand or china, so this incident is clearly good for the global economy!

if anything we ought to cut their taxes to help them pay for the gas to get back to the mountains next weekend!

How come GW is always affecting climbers and not some tourist?

Since birth, my mom kept saying “The world will end with a fire from sky, The book said “The world will end with a fire from sky".

I am getting that close to start believing her.
