First Griffith Park and now Santa Catalina.

What's the scoop Angelenos? (Yeah I could go online to find out but it is better to hear first hand from people in the area.)

So Floyd Landis said that he was asked to shop Lance Armstrong. Any comments ‘bikers’?

And it is unbelievable (an understatement) the evil in human beings (and I’m not just talking about Bush & Co, bin Laden and Mickey Mouse – oops, he’s not human).

For example, the three-year British girl who was kidnapped in Portugal last week, we can only hope that she has been ‘unharmed’ (not physically hurt or abused, but the psychological damage will be there).

Or the two schoolgirls in Australia who were just give life sentences for killing a friend “just to see what it was like to kill someone” and who apparently have no remorse over the murder.

And unfortunately these are but just two of too many examples.

Avalon Fire Chief Steve Hoefs said, the "fire is zero percent contained. We held the fire from expensive homes, from hotels, schools and condominiums. We saved all of those structures. We did lose a few modest homes in Avalon Canyon."

I find this comment interesting (from an LA Times report), in terms of what I perceive as some sort of bias. It would seem that our publicly funded fire fighters are more concerned with protecting the property of the wealthy...

Unfortunately, it looks like it's just the beginning, Patrick. The moisture levels are so low here, it won't take much to set off fires in most areas in SoCal.

Was hotshot for 7 years...props to those on the line...it's gonna be a rippin summer. Fire fighting anywhere is California is, without a doubt, the most dangerous I have ever seen, and I worked all over the west...Way sketchy due to fuel types, topography, and local weather (Santa Annas).

Be safe. And if you ever meet a Wildland Firefighter...buy em a beer....or 4

Yep, it's going to be a bad year. Fires normaly dont burn with this intesity until Sept. or Oct. when the Santa Anna's kick in. I've been a LA City Fireman for 18 years and I have never seen fires burn this way this early in the season.

Hey Feelio- what crew were you on? I worked for Payson H.S. on the Tonto and then jumped for four seasons. Agreed that fire fighting is Cal. is tough work, plus there is poison oak!
