Hi,

I'm desperately trying to get in touch with Feralfae and, seeing as how the private message function doesn't seem to work on this forum any more, I had to resort to this.

Feralfae, if you see this, please send me an email at ClintHelander@gmail.com

Alternatively, if anyone knows Feralfae's real name or any way to contact them, let me know..

It looks like they post on here still from time to time so hopefully they finds this.

It's about John Waterman.

I think he means the Johnny Waterman that found life as a climber better alone, the one that was definitively eaten by a crevasse, a new birth, unbeknownst to the larger lamer hukan world.

Also, Clint, Feralfae is a woman.

I think neebee might have her contact, maybe she can connect you. Interesting that Feralfae lived with Doug Buchanan, Alaska mountaineer. I suspect he'd have some great info if he was still with us. (RIP Doug). I was going to send an old old Ice axe up to him at the Alaska Climbers "museum" or clubhouse or whatever he called it up there in Fairbanks, and then I couldn't find the axe.

Couple months back I was stuffing something up into the rafters in the basement and there it was.....missing in action for at least 10 years.

Doug's most likely now non-working email was: climb@alaskanalpineclub.org . Sorry - not much help.

To all & to The__Dude,
In just the past month the one & only lady, as I am led to understand,
Was in a moment reaching out. Couch, Your Idea to contact neebee, is correct.

I will ask all, this holiday season,
to practice some form of giving.
Some form of non-violence, some simple blessings.
A post of joy And seasons greetings to The Flames thread
would be very nice of you too.

Feralfae, posts monthly to the thread, where we cherish her & all our betters.
It makes me sad to report, that While I received a cryptic message
that the lady had requested to be given my address, to send me a correspondence of some type.

I did not pursue the directions that I was given,
I am easy to contact, anyone can type out all the letters that I use here as my name,
with No CAPITAL letters or spaces, to @ G MaIL.

The site I was asked to respond to, to be in touch with feralfea - to send my addy to was;

Please be warned,
The strange events surrounding the arrival of this ask & info,
set my spidey senses all a jingle-jangle.
I did not respond to the request.

In no small part, my fear of the request was due to an altered state
& an overprotective, near-paranoid, feeling of a need
to keep my family separate from this, my Tribe.

I'm too much a heathen dis-but-leaver,
to risk what at the time, mid-manic-panic,
seemed to be a Trojan Horse.

I just got in this evening and found neebee's email. Then I got all the messages on the Taco.

Clint, I sent an email to you at the address you provided.

Gnome, I am very leery as well. Actually, I found this adorable little gnome made by a German lady, very cute, so I got it to send to you, but It's okay if you don't' want to give out personal contact info, I do understand. Anyway, your Gnome is in Saskatchewan until I go back out in the field next spring. I am home from archaeology for the winter and the gnome is in a friend's care for Christmas. Gnome, the prayer is by a Baha'i', and those are the peaceful religious people persecuted by the Moslems.

Couch, I was married to Doug and then lived with Doug. We were husband and wife. It was a very good marriage. I smile as I type this.

Thank you JohnTP, for contacting our neebee. :)

Neebee, thank you for being in touch, and we will talk soon. I have not picked up my mail yet, but know I will love the card. * < twinkles > * Coming home, I got to watch two weather fronts colliding. Very fascinating to see two swirling masses of mist come roiling together.

Mouse, I got your email as well, thank you. I'll catch up with you later this week, my friend. I hope you are doing well and feeling better. Thank you for the note.

Feralfae,

This is totally from left field, but since you were at one time married to the man, and obviously loved him, I wanted to share this with you: I thought Doug was one of the most interesting people I've never met.

When he first started posting on the Taco, it seemed people didn't quite know how to take him. But I found his passion for doing what he thought was right, his intelligence and his profound wit quite enjoyable.

He had a unique way of walking in this world. When I later learned he'd gone over to the other side, I was surprisingly saddened.

I'd never met Doug, but I felt as though the world had just lost a superior human being. And I had just lost a friend.

Thank you L.
Doug had a most magnificent spirit. He was guided by a strong inner integrity and a centeredness that few achieve. We had the best conversations! I got him involved in one of the high IQ societies, and he became very good friends with the prez of the organization, who was one of my very good friends, and we all had the best discussions! He had a powerful intellect and a brilliant way with words. We worked together before and after we were married, and always had entirely too much fun. Thank you for your kind words. * < twinkles > * ff

Gnome, it was really sort of funny, you know, considering the content of your post, and then what accidentally happened. Yes, we are cool. I look forward to sending you the pix and the credentials. The gnome came with "credentials" in the form of a name card and an info card about gnomes. In the spring, unless I happen to get out for some winter survey work and have time to take the photos of the gnome and his papers.

It's all good. Have a wonderful Holiday season. Peace to us all. ff

Mighty, I just wrote a note to one of our friends today, and closed it with Laughing Robustly, me.

And I often begin my notes with Yooo ... to other friends of ours. This has been a great homecoming today, to hear from so many people with a connection to my husband. I had two emails from other climber friends when I got home, one Alaskan, the other in Wyoming. Both laughed robustly with us many times. Serendipity is so elegant. Or, we could just call these times magic or miracles.

Thread drift:

Interesting. Way back in high school there was some guy that studied
Bahai. Nice guy and we kinda hit it off until he went all religion on me. Dood was maybe 16 or 17 at the time.

Thanks for the heads up Feralfae: my wife and I count the time we have been together, not the time we did the paperwork, as being married. Not far off of 4 decades now, for us. Some folks are sensitive and I don't know either of you, so I didn't want to presume or step on toes.

I will say that I have the deepest respect for you, based on your words here alone, and wish you the best. Doug was a bit of an enigma to me, but I respected his views unlike many here, and those views which I may have not bought into, I respected that he had thought deeply about them. Being in combat can cause all kinds of issues, still learning some my wife's father had due to combat. Regardless, hard to live with, still a good man I have deep respect for- very solid. Doug probably was as well.

For those that are new and didn't know Doug or Feralfae, some Doug Buchanan links, be aware than many many folks are responding to posts and people who are not there/deleted/vaporized themselves - whatever. (Roxjox, Tami, LEB, Fattrad, Crowley etc etc are all gone along with every word (OK, most of them) that they had posted here): So you'll see folks talking to ....nothing....but there use to be something. Please ignore the gaps.

Funny. I was reading letters from Doug B. Today. Wish I could have met him, but he had passed by the time I finally spent time in Fairbanks.

hey there say, feralfae... neat that you got here, and saw the email, ...

say, thanks to two taco folks, that are dear to me, for getting in touch with me...
to pass the word...

as to this:
quote, feralfae...
Coming home, I got to watch two weather fronts colliding. Very fascinating to see two swirling masses of mist come roiling together.

wow! i can feel that!! and see it, wow!

also, say, L -- just i loved seeing doug here! too!
wonderful share, thank you...

one of the most interesting things, too, other than doug, himself, was
always wondering why, how, or what, the responses were,
after doug made replies...

we all 'know' the taco...
and the various 'trails' that lead into all kinds of stuff,
starting within, just one post, ;)

here is a great doug share:

:)

but usually these were other type discussion that i 'skimmed by'...
though there one or two, that caught my interesting as to perhaps
email you, :)

i am eternally grateful that you STOPPED in here...
if not, i'd not have met the very special sparkle lady,
your wife, and our taco buddy:

feralfae... and all her adventures!

thank you, doug buchanan...

here is the home page, and, if you scroll wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy down,
there a lots of neat links to stories, etc....

happy good eve, to all!

here, feralfae... this is for you...
(thinking about our daddies, tonight ... )

we can 'running through the woods' with this,
skipping over the tree trunks, and shrubs... :)
