Tim Auger's passing made me think of this article that mentions him on the last page. I went looking to see where I had posted it unsuccessfully so here it is again. This article really put the eastside on the map for many of us and brings back a lot of fond memories of simpler times. Enjoy!

evocative of a time when there seemed so much to discover and experience.
Thanks to all those who sought to preserve that wildness.

Bump for a good story and thanks, Steve.TY, Jerry D.
Clean up in aisle three.I've never seen an American writer refer to "fellfields."
I also like his description of the Eastside geography as "sagebrush savannah."

The Smokestack has some fine long routes on it. Sorta miss those days living in Doug's place in 40 Acres, below the 'Stack.
RIP Galen...

We met and became fast friends in '02. Then, only months later he was gone.
So sad, but what a life!

Kind of a shock to see the Gear Exchange now occupying the former Mountain Light Gallery on the corner of 395 and Line. Seems almost insulting.
Galen was a great phantom mentor of mine and I expected to keep reading of his adventures for decades. I felt cheated by his premature death.
