Just looked at the deleted scenes on the dvd of "descent." There's a pretty funny one where the woman who climbs across the dropoff explains how she's going to jam across and how she learned it... she saw a guy do it on plastic over crash pads... pretty funny delivery.
The other deleted scenes had pot smoking and ranting about gear heads and peakbaggers... hahaha
So, why would anyone take ice tools into a cave like that? Besides to kill gross blood slurping monster men, that is. Any actual explanation for that equipment? Seemed super odd, but pretty groovy to see the ice axe as a lethal weapon. Yikes.
Fun movie. I like seeing any technical stuff in movies, even if it can be a little silly.

Hello Cybele,
That was you at Moosedog the other day wasn't it?
"Descent" was a great flick; saw it twice. I hope to see a sequel where a bunch of Amazon types go back in and clean house.

Funny you post this today I just watched it last night. It was ok. Good thing they brought those ice axes caving! Definitely had one of the more accurate climbing scenes in any major movie.

Hi Woody, yes that sure was my big mouth yelling up at you. You were like, whaaaaaaat? whoooooooo? Sorry for the distraction. I wanted to lead that pitch but got kinda psyched out on it after I saw a guy get stuck on that top spot -- following!! Made me wonder too much. I'm an expert at the "what if's." But I'm working on it. I led some other 9s and put some easy 10s on my must list.
I'd never been to Indian Cove. I really liked the closed-in-ness of the landscape over there. Especially loved the view from Corral Wall. Josh is growing on me. I hadn't been there till this past year.
So, still, why the ice tools? In a (Tennessee?) cave? Strictly Hollywood? Or is there some use I can't think of? Certainly the pivotal piece of gear for them. Pretty gross the shot in the neck. And the head geyser. I will be thinking of that rad melon shot when I ice climb.

Cybele,
I would have come over to talk, but I took a header coming down the talus and decided to spend my time staunching my vital juices. It's been a month I'd like to forget.

Cybele- A group of 8 hotties go into a cave with wee beasties. You gotta have something besides sports bras to swing at them.

Next time around, no bras. Those sport bras inhibited the ladies during combat.

Cybele, since caves are a constant 52 degrees, not much ice forms down there. Dry tooling maybe?
It was nice meeeting you and Wicca last weekend. Just now realized you post here. Glad you're enjoying Josh, it's a special place.
