How else to explain the huge indoor ski slopes being built in Dubai? I usually can chuckle at mankind's hubris and absurdities (like lawns in Phoenix, cruise ships bigger than skyscrapers, and skyscrapers bigger than those ships) but this one made me flinch.
I guess in some ways ski slopes in the middle east are no more absurd than movies that cost hundreds of millions of dollars. Or vast stretches of A5 hooks. But come on, isn't this just asking the gods to take notice? PS - Dubai's summer temps reach 120 faranheit.
Just wondering....

Ok, I believe that about Japan's indoor ski slopes.
But Japan's not in the middle of the desert. Imagine the energy consumed to keep the Dubai ski slope frozen on 120 degree days.

I'm just one powerball ticket away from having that in my livingroom, right next to the full size replica of the Fang...

Hate to say it, but if it keeps people off the real slopes and doesn't involve tax money, i'm all for it

Do you think that thing runs on oil or solar? If ya got the dough... Guess it beats sand boarding.
