Hi guys, Al Burgess wrote in his book, he hoped to get a postcard from Harold - the young climber he rescued 25 years ago in the Langtang Himal at Nepal. I'm Harold and wish to thank him for rescuing me but I don't know a post box or email address of him. Can you help me get in touch with him? Any help is appreciated.

I've bumped in to Al a few times in the past few years in the Winds and City of Rocks. He said he was living in Salt Lake City. Try the climbing shop international mountain equipment in SLC they might know something of his where abouts, maybe. Good luck.

From google, the climber is Alan, so it would appear to be that second address, GLee!
Good sleuthing work, Supertopo!

I remember reading about your rescue in "The Book Of Lies" Harold. Gripping stuff.
My friend Kevin Lawlor climbs regularly with Alan's brother Adrian. In case you can't contact Alan, Kevin could supply his address.

Very thanks for your hints. Yellowpages.com shows 1 Alan Burgess at Salt Lake City and 2 at Las Vegas. Scot Carson turned out to be owner of the Internatonal Moutain Equipment shop at SLC and Google Maps offered a phone number to me. But the easiest and most secure way to contact Alan seems to be following the offer from 7SacredPools. Could you please ask your friend Kevin Lawlor for the contact details of Alan? That would be great.

My friend was on a winter expedition to Manaslu run by the twins.
The expedition ended in a brawl in the yard at the Kathmandu Guesthouse with Aid and Al versus Trevor and Speedy

Hi Harold,
I messaged you Al's email.
BTW, what took so long? Didn't know who rescued you until you read about it?

Hi 7SacredPools,
the answer is not so easy and short as your question is. I did know who rescued me. I received the postcard from Alan as he wrote in his chapter, but I think I was to bussy with myself, to get on my feet again, I mean to recover physically, to get a job, I had just finished my diploma, to earn mone for living, to forget all those pain of the fall, of the rescue and the medical treatment afterwards, to forget all the nasty nighly dreams and fears, to build up a new life. I felt ashamed that I didn't answer and with each month and year this task grow bigger and bigger, may be I make me believe it is not important and I would never manage to get in contact with him, but as I read that chapter, I felt I had to act, better know than never. Of course I was frighten that he colud reject my contact attempt. That risk was worth the try. And he did not. I'm glad. Thanks for your support.

I thought that I should thank all of you who managed to get Harold in touch with Al. Climbers are a community all of their own. I believe that Harold had a lot of things to deal with after getting smashed up and even though it took a while to contact Al he did, and good for him. Keep up the good work. By the way; there are no lies in the book; nor extensions of the truth; but what would lawyers say ........!? :-)
