My goddaughter is getting married in Stowe on the 9th of October.
I'll be solo with a mini van and some time on my hands early in the week.
I live on Maui and don't get to the mainland very often.I have never been to New England and I'm excited about experiencing some new country and people.
Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

An obvious is Ben and jerrys right by Stowe for tourist stuff. Climbing wise their is smugglers notch close by. A great hike is the hells brook trail on mt Mansfield. What are you looking to do?

I love road tripping up the coast of Maine, beginning of winter though.

Go to the White Mountains in NH. VT is nice, but there's very little bare rock.

Vermont will be beautiful in early October.

If you want to climb, bouldering at Smugglers Notch is super convenient if you're solo. There are other crags around, but nothing as good as road tripping to Rumney (sport) or Franconia Notch (trad) in New Hampshire, just a couple hours away. There are gyms in/near Burlington.

Mt Mansfield has some nice hiking, as does Camels Hump.

You will also be close enough to visit Montreal for the day, eh?

Fly fishing will be good in the Upper Connecticut River and other streams closer to Smuggs.

If you only have a few days, I wouldn't waste my time traveling to the coast, but that's just me. Most of it is just overcrowded commercialized tourist traps anyway, and the good spots are far removed.

If you only had a few days to climb a day at smuggs and a day at Mt wheeler would be fine stuff and a not a crowded zoo like NH
