No need to delete - after all, this is a rare climbing related topic. I appreciate the post because I have an index ascender, bought in hope of ease of use for a small hand. I need to inspect when I return home. The thread provides easy links. Thanks.

It's a shame that Chouinard gear has fallen so far . . . . . .

. . . . . non-climbing bean counters are calling the shots.

Old recall. Still worth check all your gear for manufacturing errors upon receipt.

I personally wait a good 6-12 months when new shiny things come out before pulling the trigger. Way too many have early adopter issues, no matter the brand. Grigri 2 had the handle issue at first, but is a fine piece of kit after the recall. MaxCams from Trango had rivet finish issues. Many more I am failing to recall. Better to wait till real people review them, and for manufacturing to settle into a groove.

BD is owning up to it far better than CCH did. So it could be worse.

Moof I agree with the early adopter waiting mentality, as I also wait for new products to go through the first version. But I don't think that is the issue here. This is a manufacturing error, and a QC failure. Not "finishing" rivets certainly wasn't a design flaw, but a major manufacturing process fail.

They had the same rivet issue on their Camalots (the new ultra lights ones, and the c4's that have been out for a long time).

Either way....not cool.

In today's attention-deficient society, one month is an eternity 8-)
