On one of the major Spaceflight reporting websites, http://www.spaceflightinsider.com, there was an announcement by the Russian Government official Space company Rocosmos, to begin sending crewed spacecraft to the Moon starting in 2025.
The plans would involve the new space vehicle, "Federation" to transport 4 cosmonauts to circumlunar orbit as frequently as twice a year. These missions would be launched by the Angara A5P booster, which is capable of lifting 18 metric tonnes into Low Earth Orbit (LEO). Additional missions beyond the Moon, as well as to the lunar surface are also in the planning stage.

It makes a lot more sense, to me anyway, to establish lunar colonies before ever sending humans to that other distant redish speck which seems like total lunacy (pun intended).
With water somewhat known at the Northern poles/darkside why not 'practice' whatever we would do potentially one day on Mars or other much farther bodies?
But no, our empire is stuck killing brown people overseas and sowing discord among it's own populace so it can better rob what little productivity we have left....
