I searched the forum but it ignores words of 3 letters or less.

Just kinda spit balling here...

Has anyone tried or seen climbing over a hollywood type high fall air bag? Like deep water soloing. Or Dean Potter's free BASE climbing.

I know you have to hit the center of an air bag for it to work so it's limited in usefulness. And I guess you are not going to pack in a couple hundred pounds worth of air bag and blower and run 220 volts to a crag. So I guess it would be more for gyms.

But it seems like it would be really fun. Like deep water soloing. Seems like it would be fun to watch for comps too.

Or it seems like you could make an inflatable high ball bouldering pad. With a foot pump to blow it up.
looks easy from here

Not an airbag, but similar theory and more forgiving of uneven terrain:

Wow wild-looking place where they have that net setup in the first video

The only airbags I've climbed over are those loudmouths who insist on shouting out their free advice.

That net must be solid in the Mason Earl FA, but it would give me the heebie-jeebies falling on it.

We did this one back in the mid-70's taking about twenty falls each into a 15ft high row of leaves (and the photo is deceptive, that's about a four foot deep ditch filled with leaves directly under the roof)...

I'm perplexed by this. I don't understand the concept of soloing, but not really?

I think I saw it referred to as soloing but that doesn't feel like an appropriate label for it.

Non-Rope protected climbing?
