just tore up my entire place looking for my Petzl Mini Traxion and can't find it, so I'm looking to buy another. Petzl and REI don't have a "Mini" Traxion but do have a "Micro" Traxion. Accepts standard-size single ropes (i.e. about 9-11 mm), so I think it'll work. just looking to see if anyone can confirm equivalency, as I will be buying two of these, which isn't overly cheap

The micro is a bit smaller than the mini was. Arguably, it's a bit easier to use as the ergonomics of it are a bit better. Otherwise, It's just a trimmed down version.

If I'm not mistaken, the pulley wheel is actually bigger and the release switch has been redesigned to lessen the chance of accidental release.
The info is on the web.

If i remember correctly the pulley is more efficient in the micro as well which would add to the "easier to use" argument.

I have them both for top rope solo, and I like micro better because it locks automatically and you can not fakup. But mini-trax works ok on big diameter ropes like ~13mm, while micro can not run such ropes.

13mm rope? I never even hear of that, much less seen it. Most people would freak out if you admit that you still use 10.2 mm ropes.
I just ordered a micro on ebay for $70. It doesn't hurt to shop around a bit if you can wait a little.

Couldn't find minis for sale last fall, either. I've been using a pair of micros and they're working great.

Basically a half inch line which is commonly used in rigging as a work line. I have worked with guys that use the mini traction as a work positioning device
