Perhaps there's a thread already in here, but could not find it. I'm building out my gear and camping list for our Mt Whitney overnight trip at the end of August. Looking for some folks who have gone or have posted their lists online. Also I read that certain types of stoves may not work up at that elevation, so I'm looking to possibly buy this one from GSI Outdoors.

Wanted to make sure this thing will work before I buy it.

thanks!

Do it car to car in a day, you will not need any of that stuff. Go lite go fast save your back.

On the other hand....

Hanging out at Iceberg Lake for a few days, walking all around, and watching the sunset is MAGICAL

I never understood the need 4 speed. Slow down and smell the roses.

It can get cold up there, near freezing at night

What Jeff said +1. Even go with Sierra, but you don't need much. If yer over nighting it, take a bag in August, enjoy the stars. No need for a stove if you plan yer food right. Lugging gear up there for comfort is more uncomfortable hauling it on yer back. Have fun, be safe.

A very light bag half-length foam pad, bivvy sack combo and a tiny butane burner stove that fit in the pot with the cartridge worked perfect. (very similar setup to the stove you are looking at which should be completely fine)

Camp gear plus my half of the climbing gear came in just under 30lbs as I recall. Folks these days probably knock a few or maybe several lbs off that with some of the gear I see out there nowadays.

Did not have a permit..shhhhh...

Did wake up for the alpine start with a bit of frost. Perfect day was had.
