Howdy folks,

I've been toying with the idea of buying a cabin in Idyllwild for a mountain retreat, second home, and rental income property. It would probably just be an air bnb gig to try and cover some or all of the monthly cost. How's the market? Anyone know of any deals? My price range is low, maybe 300k max, preferably 2/3 that, and I'm a pretty good handyman.

There's a lot of rental properties in Idyllwild- many of the locals find them quite annoying, as the renters can be pretty disruptive, discourteous, and generally unaware. If you go that route, do us all a favor and manage the property with respect to the community.

The town should be loving rentals, without them there would be no tacky gift shops or hipster coffee bars. And how about that state-of-the-art grocery store? :)

Will never be as bad as Big Bear. It is so out of hand that all the cabins have to post a huge sign by the door showing the number of occupants allowed and the number of cars allowed.
