RIP.... I learned how to Ski the "Stein Way" as taught by Austrian ski Instructors.
Boots together, always... make perfect S turns on those 215 monster skis.
Worked on the tip roll till I could do one.
Worked on the jumping... when I moved back to America and started skiing at US resorts I was quite surprised at how quickly the Patrol would show up and rip down any sort of pile of snow that you could use to get some lift off of.....
oh how times have changed.

I never had the pleasure of meeting Stein, although he was a ski instructer in my home town of Ketchum/Sun Valley in the 1950's, when I was a snot-noised ski-kid. I certainly enjoyed his ski lodge at Deer Valley, which still is the definition of a luxury ski lodge to me.
Yeti writes about seeing him in action & being inspired, in this article written in 2012.

I've met Stein "you are happy to meet me" Eriksen.
A true icon to the Wasatch ski area development.
