Which kind works best for a smooth finish, to stop the stubble and bumps from interfering with the glide of Lycra over my skin? It wasn't an issue with jeans, but switching to Lycra for chest-level stepping up onto edges creates new problems. Also I hate the feel of stubble when I get sack shrivelage.

Sounds like your problem is the Lycra, not the wax, bud.

I always found a shard of obsidian and fire work best. Pine sap in a pinch, but DO NOT use fire and Pine sap...
