On the afternoon of Saturday, October 31, I assisted in the rescue of a climber who took a bad leader fall on Braille Book. In the process of getting the injured leader and her partner to the ground, I left behind some gear -- a #2 BD C4, a black Sterling shoulder sling, and two BD wiregates -- near the top of the first pitch. Please let me know if you pick it up!
The injured leader's rope was also left behind, stuck near the top of pitch 3 but NOT FIXED and almost certainly NOT USABLE given the giant factor-two fall it caught.

Thanks, Matt. I don't really care about the money; it'd just be nice to get the gear back if it's convenient. In that kind of situation I'd abandon my entire rack without thinking twice.

Hope the injured climber is doing okay! It's great to see climbers coming together to help each other out. Well done, everyone.

PS: Great route. Too bad it ended poorly for those involved. I've had some good times up there.

You are right. It's a no brainer for us to help each other in these situations. But you deserve a big thanks anyway. Well done.

I too would like to extend a big thanks for your efforts to help a injured climber. If you don't get your gear back, post up and I can also throw some money your way and cover the costs of your left gear.

Did she fall at the start of the 4th pitch (the stout 5.8 which is runout above the belay)?
Rob Yang took a bad fall there a few years ago, back injury and fusion also.
It sounds like she has an asymmetric injury, like I have, and Wendy Ong has.
If the spinal cord or trunk nerves were bruised and not cut, as the inflamation goes down she should recover more strength on the weak side.
After a few weeks, when she has recovered from the surgery, if she wants to talk with me or Wendy (or Rob) about our recoveries, please contact me.
[Edit: I received more details separately - she is a friend of mine and I will visit her].
Joe, good work on the rescue. Fractured vertebra and punctured lung - that is pretty serious.

Well wishes to the injured young woman. Was this a leader fall on runout gear?
